Remarks

Sivanath Sastri College is one of the top colleges in Kolkata. It's a girls college. And it is the morning section of South City College. The timing of our college is favourable and we can do other activities after the lectures.

Course Curriculum Overview

Sivanath Sastri College is well known for it's commerce department faculty. Teachers are so helpful. They provided us notes and explain all the lessons. Our college is under University of Calcutta. So it follows the university syllabus and exam pattern. Our course is under CBCS system. We have to pass 6 semesters to get the degree for the applied course.80marks theory for honours paper exam. And for general paper exam 80marks multiple choice questions. 10marks internal and 10marks for attendence. One must have 60% minimum attendence to sit for the university exam.

The placement cell of our college is also very capable. We have companies coming in for placements every year.

College Events

Sivanath Sastri College organize many events like Fresher's Welcome, Independence day celebration, Rangmanch ( Holi event ), Teacher's Day celebration every year. Students also participate in many fests around Kolkata and showcase their talent. There also a Drama Team and Fashion team in the college.

Campus Life

The infrastructure of our college is not that good. It's a very old building. Sometimes fans do not work properly so it is difficult for us to attend lectures in summer.Our college campus is surrounded by plants. And it also provide free Wifi connection. The size of the library is pretty good. All kinds of educational books are available there.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

1. Students generally get eligible for campus placements from the 3rd semester of the M.Sc. course. 2. Deperments like Biotechnology,Botany,Zoology have placement support. 3. Companies coming to campus like TCS,Wipro,Deloitte,Biocon,Pfizer. 4. Deperments with strong placement cells secure 10-15 offers per company, depending on batch size. 5. 8-10LPA Highest package offered by Leading companies and 4-5LPA Average package offered by companies. 6. 60-80% of students getting placements. i am interested in Ph.D. programs for research positions.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Moderate College Life.

After HS I applied many colleges but I didn't got chance at the top notch colleges as they damand more marks than I got. After trying so many colleges I finally got admitted to this college.
