Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) is considered as top rated medical institute in India. It usually comes among Top 5 MBBS rankings. The admission is based on NEET UG scores. The basic eligibility is Plus 2 Science stream with Biology.

Course Curriculum Overview

The MBBS course duration is of 5 Years including 1 Year Internship. The faculties are experienced and highly qualified. They are good in teaching. Exams are semester wise. practical exams are little tough.

Placement Experience

Several students get placed in JIPMER itself after their MD specialisations. MBBS is a basic qualification for a doctor. So a major portion of students go for post graduation. After that job offers are more.

Fees and Financial Aid

INR 50480 is the fees for the programme. Need based scholarships and fee concessions are provided to students based on several criterias such as family income, merit etc. There is a 1 year compulsory internship.

Spandan is the Medical intercollegiate fest. Almost all students join for committees such as Literature, Cultural, Sports, Social Service etc. The facilities include Gym, a Table-Tennis Hall, basket-ball courts ,Tennis court , hockey grounds, cricket, swimming pool etc.

Placement Experience:

From the final year which means 5th and 6th semester for undergraduate students and 3rd and 4th semester for Post graduate students, it is eligible for them to attend the campus placements. In my MBA, we'll be eligible for next semester to attend the placements. But for undergraduate students, they might have got chances now to attend the placements. The companies visited for us when I was in Undergraduate in the same Loyola College are Deloitte, Accenture, Standard Chartered, Goldman Sachs, RR Donneley, Bank of America, Sutherland, Infosys, Cognizant, TCS, Equinty, Turing, and many more small companies also came. The overall placed students numbers were almost more than 300 among the final year students alone in the college which is a great achievement. The highest package offered for us is ?700000 from Goldman Sachs and the average package we received is ?300000 which is from all the small companies. The percentage of placed students in our college is almost 85% from our batch alone. So we hope that in this batch there might be more than 90%. The reason for 85% in our batch is most of the students has moved for higher studies. My plan after getting degree is to get a senior most position in any of the big company and grow in my career.

Campus Life in an island

Course Curriculum Overview:

Because it was rare. Not many colleges offer this course. So the certificate has its value. Curriculum doesn't necessarily prepares you for real world applications, but you have to opportunities to develop skills. You can work with phd scholars , they are all very friendly and let's you work with them and learn. The curriculum could be improved by introducing more about fisheries, currently the syllabus focus on oceanography, biochemistry and other laws or policies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Pondicherry University has good sociology department and well trained professors.That ' s why I choose this.The curriculum contains major sociological concepts and theories and areas like rural and urban sociology, gender sociology,youth sociology and social on.The teaching methods should be improved.The exam schedule is tight.I write two semester exams in a day.The questions are not too hard but don't gets marks.

Students become eligible for placement from 3rd year 6th semester itself but the college does not bring any company for placement on time. 5 years back standard companies lkke tsc, hcl, cts etc used to come. But nowaday it is very rare. Lowest package is 2 lpa and highest package is 6 lpa. Average is 4 lpa. Very least students get placed. Try off campus. Do not believe the college

JIPMER

I also applied for ayurveda in kottakal arya vaidya sala and got a seat but I preferred studying in jipmer for a paramedical course rather than doing ayurveda. Jipmer is the second best medical college in India after aiims Delhi . The admission process here is quite different . A rank list would be published once you apply and there is an offline counselling where you have to come in person and choose the course you want according to your rank...Read More

JIPMER: Above and Beyond

I applied for AIIMS Delhi but I didn't get an admission because my AIR was 100. My second choice was JIPMER and I got into here. For admission into JIPMER, like any other medical college you are required to write the NEET UG exam and based upon your rank you can get admission into the college of your choice. For admission into AHS, you are again required to write the NEET UG exam. This is a great college where you will have a assured future

In NEET I got 404 and i applied in jipmer bsc counseling session which was via the official website. I got selected and my jipmer rank was 98. There was no separate jipmer exam as such but earlier it was there. Offline counseling session was there .
