Remarks
After my graduation I was planning to start my career in Mathematics and thought it be better to move to a big city for more exposure. Delhi University was my first preference. For BSc Hons Math course it was difficult to get in a north campus college or Colleges like Venkateswar in South with 92.5 best of 4 score. So, I got admission in this college in the 4th cutoff list plus the professors of the Mathematics were really good.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is really good. Its very systematic and progressive in nature. Major parts of Calculus,Abstract Algebra,Linear algebra is covered in the syllabus. The syllabus is a combination of both pure and applied subject. So, its very easy to go with flow. Apart from this You also get the chance to increase your skill set with programming language like R, Mathematica/matlab/maple etc. Mathematica lab is compulsory for every sem.Apart from this course also includes latex, html learning. Overall there is a environment of academics in the math department and as a whole in the college too. The library has got a loads of domain specific books. All the Professors of the math department were really very supportive and they helped us in your studies throughout. Since the professor one gets during their time will be definitely different but at our time, the group theory, linear algebra, calculus classes were really engaging and fun. Overall although the department doesnt have an active society and outside scope is little less. But it changes from time to time. At our times we had very few seminars kind of stuffs.
Placement Experience
Placement opportunity is offered but a very few placement drives are made. Companies visit the college but since i was not much engaged in any placement related stuffs I dont wont be able to give any clear perspective. But they do offer some skill enhancement courses time to time.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees are affordable. They don't have any extra fees other than exams and registration. Overall I don't have much knowledge about scholarship or financial assistance specifically of the campus. The college have a placement and career cell. But its not well known in DU.I didn't took part any of such events related to placement. But sure they conduct 3 to 4 events in a year for skill developments.
Campus Life
Campus is not that big and its near of New Delhi's railway station so there was not much place near to hang out. But the building architecture was great and it was full of different flowers blooming throughout the year. So its pretty beautiful. The crowd was obviously not like that of north campus colleges but it was good. You would surely find varieties of people from different part of the country. The college have a ground but during our times it was closed due to the construction of anew building which I can say among the main attractions of DU. Its almost complete now and the view from the building is superb. CP is just a few Kilometeres away from the college so its a great hangout spot for student. Apart from these, the college has many societies which host their annual fest every year and the campus comes to live during those days. Mathematics, Chemistry, Physical Science,Commerce dept have one of the coolest department fest. Chemistry and Physical Science department has a very active societies. Overall throughout the year we really didn't used have much engaging activites other than the fest sessions. The college also hosts its annual fest during the month of march. There is table tennis room too but it will mostly be preoccupied. Other than that we have a big library with many books and all the labs are quite great. The infrastructure has overall grown quite a bit after the construction of the new building.
