A insider's review of Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri

Good student teacher relationship with a strong CIR unit which is useful during the placement. Research orientated study. Advance syllabus. On the bad side the college has some mythological subjects as part of our curriculum which may or may not be of interest to everyone. A very strict management which can be an issue sometimes. The clubs in here are world class may it be bi0s (leading cyber sec club in india ) or foss ( an excellent open source community ). We have hutlab which provides excellent research opportunities along and lots of exposure to the field work. We have live in labs which is an unique initiative of amrita to teach us solve day to day problems by practical application. One bad thing is the management quote that sometimes is unfair.

We have highly qualified faculties with mostly having or doing a PhD. As for the student teacher ratio is quite healthy. The faculties can sometimes be grumpy but they are always there to assist you if you don't understand something. We naturally have three exams in a semester namely two periodical and one end semester. the exams are gonna be tough so definitely we need to study a lot.

Companies such as LinkedIn ,fidelity investments, Northland bank and mathworks etc came up earlier this year with a stipend ranging from 50k-70k. But the competition will be tough so better be prepared. :P The CIR is working continuously to bring in more companies.

From S5 you will be allowed to go in for internships which will be bought to you by the college CIR department. From S7 we will be allowed to sit for the placements. And as per the company's turnout is concerned all major companies including Amazon,CISCO,TCS will be coming in for the placement process. We also have some splendid opportunities for higher education due to our offshore MOUs. Highest can range upto 30lpa and lowest going as low as 4lpa. Plus point is we have courses dedicated towards making us ready for placements which is a unique feature.

Tution fee - 240000/sem Hostel fee - 69000/sem You can easily get a scholarship by appearing in the aeee exam but remember there is state reservation in scholarship list so if your are not from Kerala and you want a scholarship you better be in the top 2000 rank in the exam. There are various financial helps we can get like installment to pay the fees and stuff. Definitely the internships brought in by the college are very high paying that can help you as a student.

Naturally we have a cultural fest known as vidyut one in a year which is a three day event with various activities ranging from rover challenge to dj nights to chemistry bangs. We have a gigantic library with almost every book you need. Classrooms are all renovated and fitted with projectors which are mostly used by professors to teach. Sports is weak segment as we don't have proper grounds but construction for them is underway. We have a wide range of clubs including academics and non academic club We house India's 1st ranked CTF team in our campus and also some of the renowned clubs such as foss, hutlab and various cp clubs and societies. We also have various cultural societies like music and dance. We have some or the other cultural event going on in the campus all the time.

As a first year student you will be provided with individual toilets which will be later on converted to common toilets as you progress to 2nd year (note girls hostel don't have this facility it's always a common toilet for them) and a room of 4 accommodation which you will have to clean yourself and there will be regular inspections for that. Also the timings are very strict with deadline being 9pm. Hostel food is gonna be an issue if you are not from southern India or is not habbituated with mess fooding. Bunked bed will be provided in the first year hostels later of changed to single beds. Tables and chairs will be provided and 4 cupboard for 4 occupants indoor sports room is there for limited use definitely xD But I can assure you that whatever the hardships are this is worth is it.

I personally appeared for the AEEE exam as part of my entrance exam. For the said exam no special preparation is need of you are already preparing for JEE. It's paper will be easy and lucid.
