Remarks

Management is good. When I was there I saw a lack of effort to manage the campus. May be funding was an issue. I visited the college in recent past and the campus looks awesome now. Space was always there and now the things also look managed. So everything is good.

Entrance Preview

No entrance exam was required. Admission was done on the basis of HSC marks. I wanted to study an advanced branch of Science and this lead me to Biotecnology. This college is one of the best institutes to study Biotechnology and due to my HSC score I was able to get into this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

It was three year course. We had mid term exams for first and second year. Last year was University exams. Course also had practicals. Final year was specialization year with horticulture as an applied component i.e. elective.

Internships Opportunities

Internship was not a requirement of this course. No internship means no stipend. College had placement cell but for our specialization there were no companies visiting. College need to work a lot on the placement.

Placement Experience

3.5

College had placement cell but for our specialization there were no companies visiting. College need to work a lot on the placement.

College Events

5

Microscope was a joint technical event of the Biotechnology and Microbiology department. There were lot of cultural events organised by the cultural committee. Most events were inter college. College has huge campus and ground and even organised inter-college sport events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees structure was feasible and as per the University guidelines. We didn't feel over charged. I even went to collect my laboratory and library deposit after leaving the college and they were happy to issue the same.

Fees and Financial Aid

No scholarship/loan facility provided by the college apart from the ones provided by University directly. One of my friends took education loan and it was easier to get it as well.

Campus Life

5

Campus is huge and great equipped with all the facilities. It had a huge ground. I think it will be the biggest for any college in Mumbai. We enjoyed the campus life. College Gymkhana was always open to play indoor games. We participated in various cultural and sports events.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel was not available for BSc students. Most students were local so hostel was not needed anyways. Engineering, polytechnic and management college had hostel support. Canteen food was good as well as affordable.

Alumni/Alumna

College doesn't have any alumni meet. Being a bachelors course most people went ahead for post graduations. People I know so far are successful and comfortable in their lives.

Exam Structure

We had semester pattern till second year. Practical exams were held at the end of year only. Third year was university exams at the end of year. Practicals were always good and we felt good after leaving the labs. Exams obviously depend on ones preparations.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty was good well qualified, supportive and made learning easy. We didn't require to think twice to approach them for even smallest rather silliest of doubts.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
