High fees and Intake but good placements

Though management is trying its level best but the increasing intake will be a problem in future.It will be hard to manage and new faculties will be needed soon.Though the college is reviewed by trinity college ,ireland, some initiatives are needed to be taken.

JEE advance-7600. Jee mains- 173, 12th board- 91.6% cbse. Vitee rank-5600. Thapar university takes admissions based on jee mains scorecard.Since i was stuck in choosing lower branches of iits or computer science in private universities like Thapar, Vit etc. So instead of taking a risk i chose Thapar

Course curriculum is very good for mechanical and civil departments after its collaboration with trinity,but for computer science it has degraded. We are still studying subjects of mechanical and civil departments rather working on our core cse subjects. The internships will not be provided by companies visiting this year for 2nd year cse students because of less subjects taught to us.Instead the leftout subjects will be taught in summer of this year.

Yes the college provides internships including summer and 6 month internships.Internships were provided by Samsung, ST Microelectronics, Myntra, Proptiger, NXp Semiconductors , Blackrok, Walmart etc with stipend varying from 10,000 to 40,000 in rupees.

The batch placed this year had highest salary of ctc 29 lakhs given by de shaw and arcesium. The lowest salary was about 2.5 - 3 lakhs with placement session going on.The average salary offered was 6 lakhs. Average for computer science was 9.5 lakhs.Companies include de shaw,arcesium,microsoft,amazon,Gwinnie bee,walmart,zomato for cse students.

Saturnalia is the techno cultural fest of thapar university.It is said to be the biggest techno cultural fest of North india .The prices are as much as around 50k. Everyone can participate in them whether they are studying in or outside of thapar university.

Fees is the only thing that makes lowers the priority of this institute.The Tuition Fee (per Semester)75000 (80000)and total is around 1.5 lakhs. The total fees for 1 year makes around to 3.5-4 lakhs including hostels.But there are very many scholarships given that reduces the fees significantly.Also the facilities given are still very good.The scholarships can reduce the fees to around 3 lakhs and are given on the basis of your income, 12th board percentage, your cgpa, alumini scholarships and many more.

campus is great with 250 acre campus, wifi in all labs and hostels,all sports facilities and an central library. There are 5-6 canteens with great food. Infrastructure is improving with one more academic block coming. Gender ratio is fair with around 350 girls in the batch of 1500 students. The university is culturally diverse with students mostle from Punjab, HP,Haryana,UP,MP,Rajasthan and Bihar.

Hostels are very good when it comes to infrastructure but lacks quality of food except few like J hostel.The hostels are in very good condition are are renovated in a particular time and include facilities like game room that includes Table tennis,chess,carro etc.,tv room, Gym with all machines working and night canteen that opens till 12am.

Seniors here are very helpful and are there to help right from the counselling session.There is a society,FROSH involved to interact with freshers and make them familiar with culture of college.The college has strict policy regarding to ragging. The alumni network is very good with alumini spread all over the world and connectd to Thapar in various ways.This is taken care by the SAIC society.

1st semester is overall chilled out but the subsequent ones are quite hectic. along with midsem and endsem, there are quizzes and lab evaluations which contribute in significant manner to the weightage. Labs are frequent and many labs have weekly evaluations that contribute a bit a final evaluations.

HOD of most departments are skilled and holds a phd degree and have published many research papers.The other faculty is new and dont have much experience.Due to increasing seats the faculty is expected to teach more courses and quality is also deteriorating .Student to faculty ratio will be around 60:1.The course curriculum here is focused widely on mechanical and other core branches and is improving.
