Entrance Preview

I took IIT JEE I got the rank 2439. I opted for this particular because It was largest and Original IIT. Also it was close to home and food was to my liking. I found out about food by Alumni.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Very heavy first year but down the year load slightly decreases or we become accustomed to it. Many electives are available from modelling of atoms (Quantum state) to large multi component systems.Genetic algorithm is also available in department.Beside these you can take coursed outside of department starting as early as second year depending upon your CGPA.

Internships Opportunities

While I couldn't get a good internship due to my lackluster enthusiasm towards academics before 4th semester, overall internship opportunities are good and overall stipend I think will be Rs. 10000 per month.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement opportunities are very good centrally (meaning consultancy, analytics, business etc.), while in my department it could be better. General electrics, and core recruiters Hi-fi companies comes once in 2-3 years due to student leaving the companies after a few months for an entrepreneurship or startup. Highlight in Core recruitment: While Rolls-Royce was opened for M. Tech. Students in our department.

Fee Structure And Facilities

In my mind fee structure is very very feasible, It is around Rs. 60000 (max) /semester including mess fees. First of loans are easily available without any mortgage for studying in IIT Kharagpur. After that many Scholarship are available for all type of students one of them being MCM (Merit Cum Means) scholarship which gives you at least 25000 per year and reduces one semester per years fee by half.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is Peace (Our Lingo) means very very good. Many options for extracurricular activities from sports to tech. Robotics is an option and there is a whole society dedicated to it who trains you in this discipline.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel facility is very good, 24 hours water/electricity and internet. Wi-Fi anywhere in campus. And LAN 1 Gb/s in rooms.First year/Second years : Double or Triple RoomsThird year onwards : Single RoomsMess : Private mess and Govt. Mess both give reasonab

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is also very robust. They have a very good network in USA and very much help in Halls sports or extracurricular activities. Our latest academic building Nalanda Complex is made out of donations of Alumni.

Exam Structure

There is one mid semester exam which counts for 30% of total marks. One end semester exam which counts for 50% of total marks. And remaining 20% is teacher's assessment. Teacher's assessment could be anything : class performance, class tests, attendance, pr

Faculty

4

While in first year faculties are not that interactive or approachable due to large amount of student in classes in department where student per class is low, faculties are very approachable and mild mannered except one or two exceptions. Teaching quality

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
