Remarks

Jai Hind college is one of the best colleges in the country and for any individual who wants to study and at the same time have an overall experience at different things this is the college for you

Entrance Preview

I got in the college basis merit. I had scored 89% in my HSC and i applied to Jai Hind as i wanted to pursue science and Jai Hind is one of the best colleges for the course.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum was pretty structured with the basics being taught in the first year and the second year was to build further on the same and the final year was the application of the basics and also do research projects to apply the theory. The final year curriculum involved a lot of practicals in which you had to apply theory that you had learnt in the first three years

Internships Opportunities

For the program that i was in the college did not provide an internship but we ourselves had to get an internship which was unpaid. I worked in the cancer research department at Jaslok but that was not provided by the college

Placement Experience

3.5

We had an option for few scholarships but there was no placement as such that was done by the college. We were told about certain companies where we could try ourselves and see if they had an opening but i don't remember the college providing us with any specific placement or job opportunities.

College Events

4

There were multiple events in the college for each department. There was Kani - intercollegiate festival of English association, Talash, Arthonomics- economic festival, Genaces- Biotechnology festival and NEN ( National Entreprenership Network) also had their programs. The festivals are pretty big in size and get a lot of participation.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure when i joined college was not very expensive. I remember paying around 15,000 for a term and that was quite reasonable for the kind of infrastructure and education the college was providing. Also Jai Hind has a very reputed name and for a college of that stature i think the fee structure was quite reasonable

Fees and Financial Aid

I never applied for a loan so i will not be able to comment on this but yes the college has a tie up with many universities abroad that were keen on giving scholarships to academically oriented students

Campus Life

4

The gender ratio was pretty balanced though the population of boys was more. There were many workshops held by the college and multiple cultural societies existed. Students from various ethnicities, race, religions and economic structure were present. The college was also very open in terms of certain students having uncommon sexual orientations.

Hostel Facilities

4

I live in Mumbai so i did not stay in a hostel but the canteen facilities in the college were amazing. There were two canteen's in college and the food they provided was fresh, tasty and very reasonable for the sort of quality they were providing. Food from all regions was available at the canteen and frankly speaking the canteen's were a big plus point of the college

Alumni/Alumna

Jai Hind alumni network is pretty strong and the senior students are very helpful. I had a lot of support from my seniors in terms of help with notes, guidance to clear your university exams and also in terms of applying for jobs within and outside India.

Exam Structure

The exam structure was the same for three years. We had two exams- one term and one final. The total aggregate was calculated basis the average of both. The exam consisted of both theory and practicals for both the terms and it was not that hectic as we would get a day's gap before every exam to prepare ourselves.

Admission

I got admission on merit. The admission process was quite taxing. I filled in the college form for the course i wanted and submitted my marksheet along with a few other documents. The admission list was put up one week later and my name came in the second list. I paid the fees and finished the necessary documentation.

Faculty

4

The faculty of the college was very good. Our department had a head and around 5 teachers who taught us during the course. Each faculty was specialised in a subject and the same was taught by them for 3 years so that we were comfortable with the style. The teaching not only included theory but practicals as well where we got a hand on understanding how to apply the theory and the faculty was very helpful in making us understand the right concepts

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
