Remarks

Candidate must be from UT j&k to take admission and must have completed 12th with a minimum of 50% marks from any recognised board in science stream with mathematics as a core subject. Candidates fulfiling the above eligibility criteria can visit the official website of JKBOPEE to apply for admission to the course once the application form is released. Generally, application forms are released in the month of April. I have not availed any reservation but candidates can get reservations according to the govt. norms

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I got this course by merit after appearing in the examination. There is no particular reason for choosing this course and the college for me. In my department i.e., the department of mechanical engineering SSM college, there are about 8-10 faculty members teaching about 200 students of different batches of the mechanical branch. Some faculty members have completed PhD and maximum of them are MTech qualified. Mid-term exams are on time there is no delay in mid-term exams but the final exams are having fluctuating dates. The papers are easy to moderate and can be passed easily.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee for the course for batch 2018 is 45000 per year. Apart from the course fee, candidates have to pay 1900+1900 for 2 semesters per year and 500 for every semester registration. Scholarships are also available on campus. Most of the students apply for NSP and are provided 25000 to 30000 every year for 4 years. Candidates are also allowed to avail education loans if required. There are no jobs provided on campus to the candidates pursuing courses in this particular college.

Campus Life

3.5

There are lots of functions conducted in this college every month. Graduation day is also celebrated in this college but the day may fluctuate every year. Other fests are also conducted including science day, environment day, engineers day etc. There is a central library on our campus where students can read books and journals. Lots of books are available for candidates related to the course they are pursuing. But candidates can take only 2 books for 28 days. If a candidate takes books for more than 28 days, he/she will be charged a fine per day after 28 days. There are no extra features in classrooms of SSM college of engineering. The campus gives students an opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities and sports like basketball, football, cricket, badminton, painting competition, writing competition etc. On our campus, there is a group called Students Council which is run by a group of students.

Hostel Facilities

1

The facility provided in a room of our hostel includes an electricity connection and a bed. Meal quality is too bad that students suffer different infections. Students can visit the hostel office with required documents including identity proof and register for a hostel. I never rented a room or PG there.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
