Remarks
The admission process was completely online and it was based on merit as I took admission in 2021. At that time there was no CUET exam. The college had released around five cut-off lists for admission into this course and the last cutoff percentage was 94 per cent. Eligibility criteria are any student who is a 12th pass out with physics, chemistry and biology along with one language subject which is English. All the important information regarding the admission procedure is shared on Delhi University's official website including the application form and dates. The admission process was quite smooth. After applying to the college, the status of the application is updated within 24 hours followed by fee payment. One improvement which I'd like to see in the admission process is that the students should be provided with the contact details of someone from the course they've applied to so that they can get the relevant information at the right time.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very interesting and difficult as well. Biochemists are in high demand nowadays and this course includes almost every paper which will be required for further studies. Biochemistry has a good scope abroad. Many seniors of mine have gotten 100% scholarships for their higher studies in countries like Germany. I chose this course because of my keen interest in biosciences and research and I believe that it was a very wise decision to choose biochemistry out of all the other related fields. Faculty to student ratio is 2:20. Also the faculty I highly qualified. All of them have done PhD as well as post-doctorate from renowned universities and they are very helpful. They always try to instil scientific aptitude in us and motivate us to do better. They teach in such a way that everything we study can apply practically around us. Exams take place every semester. There is a total of 6 semesters and each semester is of 4 months. Exams were moderately difficult to pass
Internships Opportunities
The placement cell of our college is very active and a lot of companies like TATA, Infosys, Biocon, etc. keep coming up with new internships for the students but most of these are for commerce and computer science students. For Biochemistry students, summer training programs are carried out every year and professors also have their own research projects in which students are also involved and given LOR.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee per annum are around 24000 rupees and it is worth it looking at the cost of such expensive experiments and instruments we use in our lab. There are many scholarships to provide financial assistance to the needy. The placements in our courses on campus are very less as most of the students opt for M.Sc or MBA. Few placements on campus for our course include content writing for scientific journals and the average stipend offered to us after completion of B.Sc is 20000-25000 per month.
Campus Life
Our college library is one of the largest libraries of the University of Delhi. It is RFID enabled and there is hardly a time when we cannot find the book which we need. Our library is stacked with every kind of book, journal, and recently published paper. Our classrooms are not in very good condition that's why our new building will be inaugurated in a few months which is fully air-conditioned and also has spacious classrooms and a lift. The campus life is very cheerful. There are tens of societies which are run by students. These include the drama society (Vayam), the internationally recognized entrepreneurship society which is ENACTUS, The civil services society DISHA, the debate society- DICTUM, the economic society- SPADE, NSS, NCC and many more. Our college's annual fest is called Vibrations and every department has its own fests also.
