Remarks

2019 was the last batch to be admitted through a separate exam for JIPMER. I got in through a separate exam. Now the common NEET exam ranks are to be used for the JIPMER application. The application details can be obtained from jipmer.edu.in special notice to be taken that all the documents in regional languages need to be translated into English and attested for the jumper's counselling process.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The faculty-student ratio depends on the department but is appropriate for the medical curriculum. Professors and Senior residents take most of the theory and clinical classes. All the faculties are well qualified. In my experience, I have never come across a faculty with any question that they couldn't answer my doubts. The exams are very timely and the curriculum is extremely rigorous. One has to be very well disciplined regarding academics.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is extremely affordable costing only around 6k a year. There are no options for on-campus jobs. No scholarships are there but there are rewards for getting gold medals. There is a stipend of around 27k during the internship which is expected to increase in the years to come.

Campus Life

3.5

Spandan is the annual intercollegiate fest usually conducted at the end of September. It is the biggest medical fest in south India. There is a small physical library. Jipmer has access to all major journals and books via the library portal. Classrooms are airconditioned and have decent connectivity with campus wifi All major team and individual sports are there. Coaches come during the college fests to train the team. There are grounds for Futsal basketball volleyball tennis throwball football tennis cricket. An indoor stadium is ready and yet to be inaugurated. Dance music photography art and research clubs are active and run by students.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facility is adequate. For girls 1st and 2nd year get a double sharing room and in middle of 2nd yr we get a one seater room. There are 2 messes common mess and Harvey mess. The food quality is okay for a mess. No electronics are allowed but people hide and use them anyway like kettles and induction
