Remarks

To get into the JIPMER, back in 2019, there was a separate JIPMER Entrance exam, which has now been replaced by a common NEET UG exam from 2020. The application form was rolled out at JIPMER's official website jipmer.edu.in Now NEET which is conducted by NTA manages the conduction of JIPMER exams. In 2019, after filling out the application form and biometric verification, centers for the exam were allowed. Application fees for the exam were Rs. 1500 (UR) and Rs. 1000 (SC/ST). I had SC reservations and to avail the reservation benefits, the SC certificate had to be submitted (reissued to the latest annexure during the time). Other documents needed were residence certificates. I couldn't find any flaw as such in the admission process during our time. However, there have been considerable changes after 2019.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

To be honest, I chose MBBS to fulfill my dream of being a CTVS surgeon. I had a family history of relatives dying of cardiovascular diseases and I wanted to prove myself to be useful to the society and nation. The faculty's student ratio depends upon the departments. But what is commendable is the rapport and easy approach of faculties by the students. When I joined the course as an MBBS student, I was assigned a Mentor who has been guiding me throughout my life in this college. I could flourish and grow to my fullest under his guidance. The Faculties are extremely highly qualified and they are one among the priceless list of professors in the country. JIPMER professors are Authors and Editors of renowned medical books. JIPMER keeps repeated assessments to check student growth in a subject through FAs, IAs, Sendups, and University Exams and if one has followed the class and has studied, passing and even scoring distinctions is a cakewalk.

Internships Opportunities

5

I am not quite aware of any placements. Regarding the internship, JIPMER Students have a one-year compulsory internship in JIPMER hospital after MBBS. Apart from the mandatory subjects, the interns are also allowed to choose an elective subject for one month from among 32 different subjects. The current stipend paid to JIPMER interns is Rs 26200 per month.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fee for JIPMER is Rs 6770 and hostel fees include Rs 12000 yearly. There has been no fee hike since our admission. There is no Scholarship or financial assistance and Job offers I got on campus with a stipend.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is Heaven on Earth. The annual fest of JIPMER is Spandan and the grand annual medical conference of JIPMER is Connaissance. These events are conducted every year by the students association but were suspended for the last 2 years because of Covid. These events resumed in 2022. Talking about the JIPMER library, JIPMER has its own E-library which can be accessed by the students and staff through the MyLOFT app. Also, JIPMER has subscriptions to many high-end paid journals, and subscriptions to Grammarly, Authenticate, and Microsoft 360 to facilitate research among the students and staff. Our classrooms have facilities for digital as well as chalk and board learning. The learning experience inside the class is undoubtedly excellent. JIPMER has its own outdoor and indoor stadiums for Cricket, football, badminton, etc. We have a basketball ground with coaches to train the students, a Table tennis room, lawn tennis, futsal grounds, and its own swimming pool. JIPMER has all clubs under the JSA.
