Remarks

College management is the only and main issue. You dont get funded for your projects in tech fest. If you maintain a good repo with the management you are sure to land in a decent job. So yes use your conversation skills.

Entrance Preview

I have given wbjee for admission in this college. I took this college because it has a name. And much better infrastructure in west bengal.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course structure is over all good but they could have paid more attention to the research. The college is autonomous but still it does not benifit to that extent. Writing practicals could be made minimal and more focus should have been paid to actually doing of the practical. But yes we study what is required for industry.

Internships Opportunities

Yes the college provides internship. But we have to pay for the internship, companies don't pay us. Few batches before internships were paid. College administration is trying to bring back that. But there one scheme which is beneficial. It gives chance to work while studying you work at the college as a management trainee and you get paid for that. 1/2 students are chosen.

Placement Experience

2.5

It would say its average. But quite poor for core branches. All companies come for IT and even core branch students are hired in that company itself. In 2017 that is this year the highest package was 6 LPA by a start up company to a cs student. In core sector the highest placement goes like 2.8, 3. Which is way below average.

College Events

4

We have famous JISTech. The students from many colleges, schools and states come together in our college to hold that event. Students showcase the technical models. This year college also hosted art exhibition. But yet theres no cultural event as such.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Its feasible till our batch. Its around 44k per sem. But for upcoming batches the fee is high and its 65k. The high fee is due to flip learning. 1st years will be sitting smart classes. Theres a big projector screen and chairs are arranged as that in a cafe. Instead of internals there will be presentation of power points on specific topic of subject.

Fees and Financial Aid

College helps you to get loan from PNB. Students loans are easily available. Many of my friends have taken loan and its not tough. But if you are from a very low financial family then you are admitted as a TFW. So yes dont worry much.

Campus Life

4

Gender ratio is same as you experience in other engineering college of india. Yes we have extra and co curicullar activities. We are having six inovation labs in total. But the best of all we have speakers corner. There you get an extempore topic. And you speak on that. Its for both students and teachers.

Hostel Facilities

4

Yes I am a hostel student. Obviously none of the hostel provides food like home. But food of our hostel isnt bad. We get non veg 5 days a week. And you also have a veg alternative everytime. Also with daal you also get two veg curies or fry with it . But as the college is in bengal you are sure to get lots and lots of potatoes.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are helpful most of the times. But in hostel you face hell lot of problems regarding clothes. They expect you to wear kurti everytime in the first year.

Exam Structure

We have two internals and then semester exam. 1st internal is conducted offline and the other one online. JIS, NIT and GNIT together makes the question paper for semester . Also the question goes out of the college for checking. The question pattern is not much different from WBUT. Talking about practicals. Everyone gets almost same marks in practical. The game changer is viva. There is also an external teacher taking viva.

Admission

After filling the form online, I had to come in the college. And there was a huge line. After filling the form offline we also had to fill a form online. And after that we had to pay the fees. They could have filled the online form themselves but rather than staff doing the work. We had to do it. So in short I would say the admission procedure was hectic and tiring.

Faculty

3

There are three categories of teachers. 1. Who knows and can teach well. 2. Who knows but cant teach well. 3. They just come to college to be present and get the salary.30% teachers are great. 50% teachers need improvement. And the rest 20% should be literally replaced.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
