Remarks

The admission process was online and was smooth, since if there were any discrepancies we were given time to correct them too. To get admission I had to clear JEE mains and JEE advanced from which 40,000 were selected for IIT. For my branch, the cutoff was around 2000 AIR for general and since I had a reservation(EWS) I got the seat at a rank of 4172. The application form for JEE mains can be found at NTA's site and once you qualify for the exam you can fill out the form for JEE advanced on the official site of JEE advanced. The date for mains during my time was in December.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose this course since this was the most interesting course I could get at this college at my rank. The faculty: student ratio does vary but it can go from 1:200 to 1:90 easily. However, the faculty are pretty qualified since many of them have completed their Ph.D. and most of them have great accomplishments being from colleges ranging from Caltech to Harvard. There is enough gap between the end semesters and mid-semesters but mostly there is no gap between the exams that is the exams happen on consecutive days mostly. Although many of my friends have not just passed but received good grades by just studying a day before the exam. So, if you are consistent from the start it is very easy to pass the exams.

Placement Experience

4

Students can become eligible for placement without PPO(Pre placement offer) from the 7th semester and if they get PPO then from the 5th or 6th semester itself. The highest package this year till now is above 2 crores and the average package is 22.7 lakh. Around 80 percent of students were placed. I plan to go for higher studies after getting the degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fees this semester were 1,05,400 which were reduced later due to students' demands against fee hikes. The cost to study here can get as low as 10 to 20 thousand rupees if you get a scholarship. There are two main types of scholarships offered named(from alumni and various other donations) and MCM(merit-based). For a name, you need a CPI greater than 6 and an income less than 5 lakh. It covers the tuition and mess fees.MCM also covers tuition fees and gives some extra amount as a scholarship to students who receive it.

Campus Life

5

There are various fests organized here. The annual fest is Asia's largest cultural fest called Mood Indigo and we also have TechFest, both of which are conducted in December. IIT Bombay boasts a great library, you can get almost all course books plus various fiction novels. The library is pretty spacious making it ideal for studying. The classrooms are really good and there are no such big amenities except their maintenance. Here you will get a lot of exposure to extracurricular activities and sports since there are many events and fests around the year and we have hostel general championships which encourage students to participate in sports and other events like coding, creative writing, drama, etc. There are various clubs like Analytics club, and Aeromodelling club, and websites like www.ecell.in.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The room size varies from hostel to hostel my hostel room is pretty small but still, it is not a big issue. All the necessary things like light, enough ports, a table, a bed, and proper lighting are available. The food quality is fine not that good but there are various good eateries where you can eat once in a while. The menu is good though. They provide eggs, rice and daal, roti and some vegetable, some sweets, and the extra(for which you have to pay separately) are mostly non-veg. For hostel registration, you just have to fill out a form and you will be allowed a room. It is affordable with a rent of 30k per year without the mess. You must live in a hostel here. Even if you don't stay you have to pay the hostel fees.

During my placement my engineering percentage is around 70 and I am able to attend every drive. Once student get placement offer from one company that student is not allowed to apply next company which package is near to previous company. Placement in Kit college in my year is 70 to 75%. The unplaced students have decided to go for MS.

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
