Remarks
The hostel and mess facility needs huge improvements. Also more stress should be given in delivering learning through innovative and practical methods rather than theoretical straight forward approach. Exams should be focused on learning and not on mugging up.
Entrance Preview
I scored 3358 rank in UPSEE. I got this college by merit list. I would have chosen Computer science instead of Electronics and Communication because it is more in trend. But I compromised with course over college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course was Electronics and Communication. It was pretty much theories and Practicals at the same time. It was mainly divided into roughly 9-10 subjects of core branch and rest was general engineering physics and chemistry, side courses like bio Technology, etc.
Internships Opportunities
I don't have much idea about the stipend but they provided internship to guest lecturers for becoming permanent faculties.
Placement Experience
I got placed in TCS directly from college so I would say that placement is good. Most of the students get placed because of the name of college. But there is less scope of getting a core branch company as for my branch only Media Tek came and took 5-6 students. Rest were placed in IT industry like me.
College Events
There were various events held in my college. Some were pure technical including various exhibition of technology and games related to them. Some were cultural feats involving dance and plays. Some were literature fests.Mostly were held for college students through out India. But some were for KNIT perspective only.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It is very feasible. The tuition fees was not much owing to the fact that it was run by government. Also most of the fees was refunded for economically backward class. The hostel and mess fees was also very affordable. It was perfect structure for any general middle class student.
Fees and Financial Aid
I did never inquired about that as I never needed loan. The fee was small and affordable. But some students took loan facility too.
Campus Life
Gender ratio was like 10 : 40. It was mostly boys in classrooms. There were various labs and practicals were held in every semester. There were various celebs in the technical and cultural events. Regular Sports events were organised. Society was very tolerant with respect to gender and caste-ism. The politics was 20% important in my college. It met my quality standards for educational purposes.
Hostel Facilities
They were not quite good to be honest. Mess food was hardly edible. And hostel got dirty toilets and the maintenance was poor. But some hostels were newly constructed during my period of stay so they were nice. But mess food quality was same through out the KNIT. We survived on street food for 4 years. Also there was no option to avoid the fees of mess of you want to live in hostel.
Alumni/Alumna
There is a very strong alumni network. Most of the events were held in college because of the financial aids of alumni only. My juniors still call me for aids regarding to events being organized in the college.
Exam Structure
There are basically 8 semesters. Per semester there are exams. In an Exam the marks are divided into external and internal examinations. There are roughly 5-6 subjects per semester. Also there are unit tests twice per semester which cover partial subjects.
Admission
UPSEE Exam was conducted and when results came, I got 3358 rank which entitled me for this state government autonomous college. I got it in first round. It had several courses but I was given Electronics and Communication. The only formalities were ID and mark sheet verification after allotment.
Faculty
Faculty was mostly great. Some of the professors were absent or didn't took subjects seriously. But overall I would rate them 4/5. They focused on character development and knowledge growth. They even took internal tests besides unit tests twice per semester to assess our learning.
