Description from ISM to an IIT

The course curriculum is hectic but interesting. You can opt for different open electives from various other departments as well. The faculty-student ratio is around 1:16. The teachers are well-qualified and hold expertise in their domain and teach very efficiently. The mid-semester exams and end-semester exams are the two main examinations in a semester. Apart from this, quizzes are held every month.

Major companies like Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, IBM, De-Shaw, Sprinklr, etc. come for on-campus internship offers which are then converted into pre-placement offers based on the merit of the student before the placement season begins. The overall onboarding procedure is smooth and the college is very supportive in this regard.

The placements at IIT Dhanbad are outstanding. The average package is around 24.5 lakhs/Annum CTC where the highest package being around 1-1.2cr /annum CTC Domestic. Almost 99-100 percent placement is there. Apart from these, students at the end of the third year do internships at multinational companies which are then converted into the pre-placement offer.

The fees are 123000 in general but financial aid and MCM scholarships can be availed by the students. Apart from this students do pay for internships at Multinational companies which helps the students to pay for their fees.

The annual cultural festival is organized in the winter semester in February called the spring fest more specifically named Srijan. Apart from this, we have a technical fest called Concetto and the Khanna. We also have hackfest where new technical ideas are pitched. Special guests, motivational speakers, TEDx talkers, singers, and actors are invited for the entertainment and overall development of the student body.

Hostels are clean and hygienic under the surveillance of the associate professors of various departments who act as hostel wardens. Mess food is excellent and has a balanced diet comprising of milk and vegetables daily and non-veg 5 days a week. A separate mess for vegetarians and non-vegetarians is provided. The rooms are big and given double accommodation.

You need to score a rank below 5000 in JEE ADVANCED in the general category to get admission into Electrical Engineering at IIT Dhanbad. The form for the JEE Advanced is floated after the results of the JEE MAINS are announced.
