Course Curriculum Overview

4

I choose civil engineering because there is a great scope of civil engineering in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in government service. Teachers here are qualified, and they used to teach from books. Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable. They guide and help students in every possible way. Exams are conducted on time. Mid-semester exams are a bit poor, but end-semester exams are quite vigorous. There is a need for proper dedication, especially in the maths department.

Placement Experience

4

Students get eligible for campus placements after the 7th semester. About 55-60% of the students get placement on campus. The highest salary package offered is 22 LPA in coding, and the highest salary package offered in the core is 9.5 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 3.5 LPA, and the average salary package offered is 6 LPA. There are some core companies that visit here every year like Tata Project, L&T, Suzuki Motors, and Vedanta, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure for students having annual family income more than 5 lakhs is 140000 per year, for students having annual family income between 1-5 lakhs fee structure is 80000 per year and for those students having annual family income less than 1 lakh fee structure is 20000 per year. In my college there is only one scholarship which is given by national scholarship portal. They give scholarship worth up to 20000 per year.

Campus Life

4

Fests and events are conducted each year by different clubs. Events like AAMAD, HULT PRIZE, etc. are conducted annually or even twice a year sometimes. The library is good and the availability of books is good there, you won't need to buy a book of your own in the full course. Classrooms are very good, equipped with smart boards, wifi, AC, etc. There are some groups that are run by students like a soap box, zero days etc.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel facilities are very good. The rooms are good and highly ventilated and warm also. During winter rooms are warm but you need to buy blankets and a room heater. The capacity of rooms depends on the students it can be 4, 5, or 6. But from last year 5 students are in a room. There are 10 hostels of which 2 are girls and 8 are boys hostel. Boys get a different hostel each year. Each hostel has its separate mess. Food quality is average. Non. veg is also given. There is also a canteen and a cafeteria where you can eat food and buy the necessary things. In case if you do not want to stay in a hostel you can also rent a room at an affordable price or you also stay as pg in the locality.

Admission

First of all, you have to give JEE MAINS entrance exam. If you got more than 90 percentile in JEE MAINS then there is a chance you will get admission to some branch. For my branch of civil engineering, you must have above the 92 percentile to get admission to NIT SRINAGAR.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
