Life at Campus that never sleeps

I chose the course because of the curriculum. I discussed it with some alums who are friends with my relatives. The program demands a lot but also helps you to develop in many aspects. The rigor helps you develop a sense of discipline and responsibility. The alum base of XIMB is very extensive. There are many permanent as well as guest faculties. Faculties are appointed to students as advisors.6-7 students have one faculty as their academic advisor. Most faculties have Ph.D. from old iims (mostly A B C), and some faculties are seasoned industry experts. They help to get a real-life perspective of the classroom concepts. The term exams are scheduled every 3 months. The term exams are always done on time and are very rigorous. It is not hard but I won't say it is easy to pass the papers either.

Internship roles include sales and marketing interns, business analysts, data analysts, etc. Companies offer a variety of projects. It is an academic mandate at XIMB to complete their summer internship to get to the second year. The college placement committee provides ample opportunities for summer internships. There is also a record number of PPOs offered to the batch by the companies that provide summer internships.

100% of the students get placed in the MBA program of XIMB. A variety of roles are offered through campus placement opportunities. The highest package offered was of 71 lacs per annum, and the average stands at 20 Lakhs. The Median also lies around 18-19 lacs. Profiles offered include IT consultant, Area sales manager, Product Manager, and more. Students are eligible for campus placements in their 5th term. Microsoft, Bain and company, and Goldman Sachs are some high-profile recruiters on campus. Tata steel, Delloite, and ICICI bank are some prominent recruiters as well. Avg CTC growth is about 14% year on year. There were 71 recruiters in the final placement for a batch of 2021-23.

There are no scholarships available on campus for the course. This is one of the cons. Regarding the fees, it is about 22.5 lacs now. It was about 20 lacs in 2019. A loan is readily available with low-interest rates. There is a tie-up with a nearby sbi branch where the loan process is even more hassle-free. The sbi branch connects the students with admission offers and gives a point of contact regarding any doubts. Monthly expenses are excluded from the fees which include stationary and mess fees.

XIMB spends heavily on its library and resources. Many research and other information websites are made available to students through the college portal. Annual fest ie Xpressions is conducted in the month of February. There is a Business Excellence Summit as well in the month of October. These are 3 day long events with many business and cultural activities on campus. The classrooms are well maintained and are well equipped with modern facilities. Sports and extracurriculars are also a major part of campus life. Ample opportunities to participate in sports events are present. There are courts for badminton, lawn tennis, volleyball, and basketball. There are 13 committees that are managed and run by students. One can choose committees based on their interest and actively participate in events organized by the same throughout the year. Life is very happening on campus and sometimes sleep becomes the cost for it.

To get into XIMB, one would require to take one of the four management entrance tests, i.e., CAT, XAT, GMAT, or XGMT( Conducted by XIMB). The percentile cut-off is lower for Odisha domicile candidates, and there is an overall reservation of 50% for the same. A three-year bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with a minimum cumulative percentage of 55% from an accredited university is the prerequisite to get into the program. Final-year students can also apply if their final examinations for their degree are planned to finish before June 15, 2023. All the information regarding admissions, including the admission form, is available on xim.edu.in i.e., the official website of XIMB. The admission process is very smooth. One gets connected to college students through WhatsApp groups shortly after they receive their admission offer. Necessary information and tips are disseminated through the groups. The admission office is also active.

I had to give a Statement of Purpose but didn't have to go through a GD or WAT. This circumstance was there for my batch as there was a pandemic. But there was an extensive PI. Questions were varied across topics. There were basic HR questions, situational questions, some regarding my UG course, and some from the union budget. I prepared by giving mock interviews and preparing my answers beforehand. Reading newspapers and having my current affairs brushed up on also helped.
