Course Curriculum Overview
I choose this course because Civil Engineering has a vast field, it's totally based on knowing nature because Civil engineering basically means working with nature for the betterment of society. There are almost 40 faculty and AEC has around 100 students each year. Most of the faculties are Mtech or Ph.D. from IITs. Exams are held according to the ASTU rules and regulations, there if you are caught cheating the punishment is debarring from giving further exam for the whole semester. And the exams are held regularly, CED AEC even conducts 3 MTEs before endsem.
Placement Experience
Campus interview starts in the 7th semester. The final-year students can sit for the campus placement interviews. Almost 10-12 companies come for the placement drive and a few of them are PSUs. If companies like OIL and IOCL recruit then the package is offered up to 10lakh per annum. Out of 100 students, 35-40 students get placed. After getting the degree I might end up taking a Mtech course.
Fees and Financial Aid
ST/SC students, Economically backward students, and top scorers get a good amount of scholarships. The fees required for the course are pretty affordable, it increases by a few hundred every semester. And a lumpsum of Rs.10000 has to be paid every year.
Campus Life
The annual fest is named PYROKINESIS which is also known as electro fest and is one the biggest fest of engineering college in northeast. Both national and international artists perform in the 4 days event. AEC conducts other 2 tech fest. One is named TECH UTSAV and another one is TECH AXOM, these tests are famous regionally, and many universities and colleges take part in these tech fests.
Admission
To get admission to ASSAM ENGINEERING COLLEGE, one has to take CEE, Which has a total of 120 questions, the right answer has +4 marks and the wrong answer earns -1. After that within a month, the result is announced and students are called for counseling. SC/ST and OBC and Economically backward students get a lower cut-off than the general rank list, thru CEE one can get admission in AEC, JEC, JIST, BBEC, etc. under ASTU.
