Course Curriculum Overview
I choose CSE because currently, it is in high demand. Doing CSE is fun because since my childhood I like computers and programming. Doing CSE also guarantees a job(in most cases). Packages are also good in CSE. Faculty: Student ratio is ok. 240 students are divided into 2 sections in 1st year and after that, there are 3 sections for 240 students. First-year PhD students teach subjects. After that, there is well-qualified faculty. The teaching method is ok, students should not be dependent on the teacher. Most students refer to youtube for studies. In 6 months there are 2 exams first minors and then majors. Exams are of the medium level if you start studying 1-2 weeks before exams you can easily pass.
Internships Opportunities
Many students do internships in companies like Flipkart, Microsoft and TCS. Internship opportunities are ok in this college. It all depends on the student and how he performs in college. Opportunities are there.
Placement Experience
From 6 semesters students are eligible for campus placements. Flipkart, TCS, Wipro, HDFC, SBI, Mankind, Sometimes Amazon, Google and many companies come for mass recruitment. Last years highest was 19 lakhs per year and the average package is 5-6 lakhs. 50-60% of students are placed in college. My plan is to apply to the campus for better opportunities and packages.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees in GNDU is approx 139000 per year. The university provide scholarship for students whose family income is less than 8 lakhs. Scholarship is also for minorities- Sikhs and Muslims. You need to maintain a CGPA of 7.5 to continue your Scholarship.
Campus Life
Fests in this university are ok. You will find fests every 2-3 months. Fest is not extraordinary. I personally don't like fests. The library is very big and you can find every book of different courses. There are reading rooms for students to study. Classroom condition is ok only. There are only fans and you would find it difficult to survive during summer. Extracurricular activities are very good. There is no problem with sports. Playgrounds, badminton courts, basketball ground, and table tennis is there. There are groups run by students. In my department it is CESS.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel rooms are below average. Rooms are small for 4 people in 1st year. The meal is good to eat although you will not find the taste of your home. Meal quality is ok. The menu is the same for breakfast and lunch for everyday only dinner is best. The registration process is easy and hostels are affordable.
Admission
Getting admission to this college is neither too hard nor too easy. You need a minimum of 75% in 12th exams irrespective of any board. You need to score in jee mains to get admission to this college. In my batch, the cutoff was 70% in jee mains to get admission to CSE. The application form is filled through their website online.gndu.ac.in. Application fees are 2000Rs. Application dates can be checked through their website. There are reservation benefits also for different categories. The admission process is easy and I found nothing challenging in it.
Other Applied Colleges
Chandigarh University - [CU] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Science and Engineering)
It is a private university as compared to gndu. Moreover it has high fees. Studies are not so good here.
