- Classrooms could be improved atleast air conditioned.
- Methods of teaching of some teachers ! Could be improved
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because the fees for the course are justified considering the ROI. It's the second-best state university in Punjab after Punjab University considering BTECH CSE. Faculty to student ratio is not that great but it's bearable since groups are divided and per group 1 teacher can interact with about 30-35 students. The teachers are well-qualified and most of them are doctorates in their respective fields. But the teaching methods differ from teacher to teacher but most of them are fine. Exams are broken into 2 parts per semester. Firstly there are mid-semester of 20 marks which are conducted shortly after 1-2 months after the commencement of the session. Exams are moderate and passing is easy.
Internships Opportunities
JOSH, Nagaroo, ZScaler, Copporpod IP, KPMG, etc. offered various internships with a stipend ranging from 20k to 50k per month. Last year off-campus Amazon internships were also there with a stipend of 80k per month.
Placement Experience
Placement is about 95%. Although mass recruitment is carried out still it's better than being jobless. But if you are a good student you can get a pretty good package too. 5-7 lakh is achievable and some even manage to get over 12lpa +. It all depends again on your hard work since opportunities are there and you can make the best of out of it if you are dedicated and focused on what you want to do. The highest on-campus placement goes about 18lpa by JOSH technology for the SDE position and of camps 44 LPA at Amazon. After the degree, I plan to go for a master's abroad.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees structure is a bit high considering it's a government University but still far lesser as compared to the private universities. Scholarship funds in the form of fee waivers are provided to students with less income and there's a full tuition fee waiver for SC students with less than 2.5 LPA family income. Campus jobs aren't prevalent over here and the only financial assistance you could get is in the form of a scholarship i.e. tuition fee waiver.
Campus Life
Annually many fests are conducted throughout the university from various departments. The main fest namely JASHAN is the most looked forward to the fest. Many tech fests such as POLARIS and TACHYON are also conducted by the Computer engineering department and the Electrical department. Social life is pretty enjoyable. But mostly the students are from Punjab but still, you get enough exposure since some international students from other states study here as well so no barriers. Coming to the infrastructure it's pretty good for a state-funded University. The classrooms are that great but not too bad either but you will face the heat in the summer since they aren't air-conditioned. Labs are okayish and well-equipped. Clubs are up to students' choice . Other than that sports facilities are pretty top-notch only if you are already established in a particular sport for a person who wanna try out things it's okayish. Also, GNDU won the MAKA trophy.
Admission
The eligibility of the course required min of 50% with PCM as the main subject. Reserved categories had a relaxation of 10%. Application forms, application fees, and dates could be found directly on the GNDU's official website. After the candidate fills the required eligibility criteria the selection was made based on JEE Main's percentile. It went to as low as 75 percentile for the students outside Punjab since there are 15% of seats reserved for them and 85 % of seats are reserved for the students of Punjab. Reservation to categories is as per the general standard. In the admission process, the counseling was done offline which could be improved if it was done online other than that everything was fine.
