Remarks
Pros: Good crowd with decent and well-mannered students, Good for football, cricket, tennis etc enthusiasts, Lot of options to choose from (electives) Cons: Fine of Rs.500 to be paid if you are found using the mobile phone anywhere except canteen/cafeteria. Strict environment
Entrance Preview
JEE score: 82/360 I wanted to do computer science engineering from NCU (formerly ITM, Gurgaon) because two of my friend's elder brothers passed out from this college and are well placed and earning a decent amount in the field of their interest without post-graduation.
Course Curriculum Overview
There are a number of electives to choose from as soon as a student reaches the 3rd semester. Python PHP Could Computing Cybersecurity Network Security Big data & Hadoop Analytics in R etc. Students as per their interest could opt for any of these. In my case, I opted for Python, PHP, NS, and Analytics in R (semester 3/4/5)
Internships Opportunities
Yes, the college has connections with some start-ups and other companies like start beans, Rankwatch, Fidelity international etc which provide internship to eligible students (aptitude test + interview conducted by the company). Apart from this in my 4th semester, I did my summer training from the college itself as my college organized a summer training on Big data analytics using R and Hadoop.
Placement Experience
Placement cell is quite good. It's been 1 and half month since my 7th semester started and already 7 companies (for Btech only) came for their placement drives. Companies visited: Deloitte, Fidelity Internationals, Gemini Solutions, Libsys, Orkash, Yatra, com, Navarro.
College Events
Events : Momentum: This is basically the college fest that takes place every year and lasts for 3 days. Different sub-events like games, sports, dance, singing competition, fashion show etc are held giving each student to portray their talent. And in the night celebrities or DJ(s) perform. Freshers: Fresher's party Farewell: Farewell for leaving students
Fee Structure And Facilities
It's expensive compared to other private universities in Haryana. No other college takes 1 lac for a single semester except Amity, Noida. For students from the different states, the expense is more due to accommodation in the hostel or paying guests. Still, they end up getting students more than available numbers of seats each year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes, some students in my class did get scholarship depending on the score they scored in the Boards and JEE. The scholarship continues only if the students maintain a particular marks criteria in the coming semesters.
Campus Life
There are many groups and societies formed in the university comprising of different types of students each working to organize the event like debate competition or events for awareness etc. Tedx Talk does take place and everything is managed by some students and mentor faculties.
Hostel Facilities
I don't know about these because I live in Faridabad with my family and do carpool with my friends in Faridabad. I did ask one of a friend who used to live in the hostel in the first year, and he said the mess food is quite satisfactory. And girl's hostel is pretty secure with extra security guard compared to boy's hostel.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes, being 4th-year students when companies are flooding to hire students, having experienced person to talk with is quite helpful. I do have contacts with some alumni and they explained me about the campus process (from their experience).
Exam Structure
Recently our exam pattern changed. Before there were 2 minors exams 20 marks for each subject. 1st minor would take place after 1.5 months of new session, and the 2nd during 4th month and in the end of the 5th month used to the Major examinations. But now there is only 1 Minor (mid-season) of 50 marks and then the end semester exams of 100 marks per subject.
Admission
Firstly I was supposed to pay 1000 rupees for the online form from NCU's site. I submitted it and after few days a list of shortlisted students (based on JEE and CBSE Boards Marks) was uploaded. I got my name in the Mechanical branch which I didn't want, so choose the option to reapply for another stream and got in CSE in the 2nd list. Then on a particular day, I had to visit the university with my dad to complete the formalities and pay the fees for the first semester.
Faculty
Frankly about 70% of the faculty are quite sensible and knows how to deliver knowledge (on their particular subject) but the remaining 30% comprises of the teachers those who are currently pursuing higher education from the university itself (M.tech, Ph.D. etc), and they don't really give their best when it comes to teaching their fellow students instead they are more busy studying their own course.
