4 years at IITKGP

No bad remarks. The college is a complete package of learning, fun, experience, research, academic excellence, infrastructure.

I took IIT JEE(Advanced) to get admission in India's top Engineering colleges. My score was(211/360) and rank was 1375(GEN). I opt for IIT KGP because it is oldest and most prestigious among all other IITs.

The overall course structure is good. In first year everybody has to go through the common theory and lab courses. after 1st year students get to learn in their departments fields. A lot of research work happens in IIT. Every department is active in terms of research.

I got my summer internship for a period of 2 months in Samsung R&D Bangalore ,through my college. The stipend was 35,000 per month. The overall experience of internship was very good and full of excitement.

Obviously you are talking about IITs here. They have the best placement in the country. If it is IITKGP which is India's first IIT the placement is super good then. A lot of companies from various fields come here(IT, Data Science, Core). The placement happens in december every year. For computer Science the placement is 100%. Some companies are Oracle, Microsoft, Uber, Sprinklr, Cisco, Samsung, Tower research. For India profiles the salary is in the range of 15-30 lacs per annum. For outside India profile it is more than a crore.

There are too many societies in IIT KGP. You name a hobby and there is a society for that. Also there are 2 fests happening every year in college. Spring fest which is cultural fest and Kshitij which is Tech fest. Apart from that GC(General Championship) happens between all the hostels in the college every year.

The fee structure is quite affordable for middle class people. Also there are several scholarships going on in the institute every year. Also for people whose monthly income is less than 4.5 lacs per year are not required to pay the tution fees, they just have to pay the mess and hostel fees. Total yearly fees was around 1.5 lacs. Tution fees - 90,000 Mess , hostel and oter charges - 50-60 thousand

There is student loan which is provided by SBI IIT Kharagpur in the campus. I don't know the procedure but it is there for sure.

Campus Life is very awesome in IIT KGP. Firstly you will get some awesome lifelong friends. The Gender ratio is not good in IITs , it is 1:10(Girls/Boys) at my time. There are cultural societies in which everybody will participate actively. A lot of technical workshops happens every year. The ragging is banned here so no worries at all.

All hostels are good in infrastructure and facilities. There are lan ports provided in each room. Also Wifi routers are put in everywhere in college hostels. Apart from that washing machines are there in every floor. RO water is available in all hostels. Mess food is quite good, U will get variety of dishes from all over India here.

Senior students are very helpful here. They will guide you through your entire college life. They shared their experience always. I have taken help from my seniors regarding preparation for placements.

There are 2 exams every semester, one is midsem and other is endsem. The labs are quite frequent so that students get a lot of hands on what has been taught in class. Yeah the schedule sometimes becomes hectic but it is always full of learning and fun.

I qualified jee mains(3 hrs test) first , then 200000 students based on jee mains score provided they are in top 20% of their respective board in 12th were selected for jee advanced. After qualifying jee advanced(6 hrs test) I got admission in IIT KGP. There are forms available for the exams. You just have to check the official website of jee mains and advanced, you will get everything there about exams.

I studied in computer science and engineering course(4 year B.tech) in IIT kharagpur. All of the faculty members in the department are very knowledgeable and teaches very well. Every professor has their own style of teaching whether it is through slides, writing examples, practicals.
