Remarks

Nationalism is the feared topic in this college. Being in the conflict zone, there are frequent strikes in around college region. There's always a cold-war between local students and non-local students. Still, when it comes to studies and other functions, united we do things.

Entrance Preview

Gave JEE-Mains in 2017, achieved 115 marks. NIT Srinagar (IT) was my 23rd option in the JoSAA councelling. JoSAA has got seven councelling rounds and one special round. You get your college according to yor preferences and achieved marks. Greater the marks, more you have got chance to get your deserved college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

NIT, Srinagar follows IIT Jammu curriculum. for the first year, everyone has common syllabus. After passing out first two semesters i.e. first year, you get to go for your respective departments. Each department has highly educated faculty members. Separate faculty for every department. You will be getting frequent assignment and projects to maintain your resume.

Internships Opportunities

College send it's student to many premiere institutes in India, like - IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, etc. One can take internship through common India Internship portal. Recently, 20 students from 5th and 7th semester have got chance to go to Canada for their internship.

Placement Experience

3.5

Civil department has maximum placements in this institute. Mostly, civil students get placed in government firms. CS/IT students get maximum placement packages. The highest placement package till today is 72 Lpa by Epic systems. Other branches have nominal placements.

College Events

3

Since this year, we have got many social events lined up. Inter-Semester sports are held every semester. Students from all semesters compete to get the final certificate of appreciation. Tech Festival known as 'Technoveganza' is celebrated every April ending. Students from all over Jammu and Kashmir state come to see this fest. Other events include Holi, Garbha, Dandiya, etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee Structure, here, depends upon the family income. Students with more than 5 Lpa family income have to pay full fees. Students having income between 1 Lpa and 5 Lpa gets 75% discount on their tution fees. Students with below 1 Lpa family income study here for free. The fee structure is totally lenient and affordable.

Fees and Financial Aid

NIT, Srinagar does offer good amount of Scholarship facilities for students with poor financial conditions. Students having below 1 Lpa family income get full-waive on their tution as well as mess fees through Students-Welfare-Programme.

Campus Life

3.5

NIT, Srinagar has got 2nd Best Scenic Campus in India award, twice. It's located in the Kashmir valley with average temperature of around 12 degree celcius. Snowfall in campus in the months of January to March is the best thing to experience. Sportsmen are well supported and backed by the institute. Other clubs include - Robotics Club, Entrepreunership Cell, English club, Music club, etc

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel facilities are good. Mess food is not that great. Non-Vegeterians get to eat Non-Veg four days a week. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner all are done on time, strictly. Few food items have are served in limitted quantity. For those who don't like Mess food, we have canteen facilities just near-by with affordable rates.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students are very helpful. They provide us with needed guidance and strategies on whether how to cop-up with the studies and other College stuff. Seniors also provide us with needed study material.

Exam Structure

Every semester has two subdivisions - Major and Minor. Minor semester is of 30 marks while major exam is of 60 marks. 10 marks remain in teacher's hand for class assesment. At every semester end, results are declared combining the marks of major and minor. You have to pass all eight semester before you get your graduation certificate. .

Admission

After getting allotted this institute, I had to report to the allotted reporting center within three to four days. After the verification of documents at the reporting center, they give us the date on which we must report to the allotted institute. Verification of documents is done again at the institute. After all legal process, you finally get the admission.

Faculty

3

College faculties, here, are mostly Local, from Jammu And Kashmir state itself. Highly intellectual and highly qualifies faculties do teach here. Maths is one of the most feared department here. The one who clears Maths subject, can apparently clear any possible subject. However, since this institute is in conflict region, no. of faculty members have always been the problem here.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
