Remarks
Mess food was something that can improved upon with more industrial exposure. With lot of underachievers in the campus one can easily find tough competitors and real world.
Entrance Preview
Took AIEEE 2011 and AIR was around 25000. I initially hated engineer tag so one could make up for my low rank in AIEEE. Then over the course of B.TECH attempted CAT 14- 93.44 %ile just for sake of fun.(No real motive). Then attempted GATE 16- 1398 RANK after I got campus placement in TCS. Never joined TCS and went for govt sector and PSU preparations. Eventually cracked SBI PO 16-Joined as PO in Nov 2016.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum for B.Tech. ECE is perfectly designed and is in sync with what PSU and GATE demands for their examinations. Moreover, University is open to changes with broader outlook and incorporating more practical and industrial exposure. They have 50:50 ratio for practical periods and theory classes.
Internships Opportunities
Yes. Though, during our time internship opportunities we're very few and in limited streams, but today my juniors state that opportunities have increased.
Placement Experience
Placement opportunities are limited to private sector companies. Overall during campus, 75% of eligible students were placed from our stream. TCS biggest recruiter offered 3.18 lack ctc. Fidelity around 4.2 lack ctc. Hlc 2.8 lack ctc (pool campus). From what I have seen if you really want a campus placement, work decently enough, you will surely get placed from ECE stream.
College Events
Being state govt funded University, events are generally not that happening when you compare to IITs and other private colleges. They were organized generally by students under supervision of professors. Though they had different cultural and linguistic groups and too many around the campus, always doing one thing or other. I was part of a dance group there called REBELS.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Very feasible and transparent. Though those days we had to manually go to SBI branch inside campus to pay our dues but during our course, online payments were started. Being state govt funded it's quite fine for pocket. Hostel charges are on higher side but still lower than private colleges. Mess charges are extra for hostelers.
Fees and Financial Aid
I have not availed any scheme. But yes there is scholaship each semester for top 3 to 5 students of each stream. I have never been among them so no idea of amount of scholaship. Education loan are being provided by banks for this University quite easily.
Campus Life
Being a hostler i can tell campus life was peaceful. Away from city's constant honking. Gender ration(sorry to say) is in favor of boys with 70:30 overall. Languages generally spoken are Hindi, English and haryanvi with no barrier or discrination to other languages. Many cultural and technical societies working from campus. Robotic workshops are frequent and sufficient enough to prepare one for bigger challenges. Neglible political influence within the campus. Parties are limited to self organized birthday parties and all.
Hostel Facilities
They have 4 boys hostel and 3 girls hostels or called halls. For boys, each Hall has 2 separate sub halls with approximately 120 rooms each. Each Hall has two floors and stairs to climb. First floor is most preferred and hence on two sharing basis. Ground and Second floor with single occupancy. Mess is separate and common for entire Hall. Separate common room with LED and TT tables. Room rent was around 4000/- for Singla occupancy and 2500/- for sharing per semester. Hostel Charges were around 17000/- to 19000/- for entire year including security. Mess charges extra and depend on per month epenses in running mess around 2000/- each month. No PGs around the area, one can find flats some 8kms from campus with good road connectivity. Girl hostels have very strict time restriction of around 7.00 in evening during summer. Mess food is just OK. On days it's good on others it's not. If not we use to walk to nearby Murthal dhabas 20 mins of walking distance.
Alumni/Alumna
College seniors are way too helpful to believe. With anti- ragging policy in place, seniors and juniors have fun together. My juniors happen to stay in my hostel room more than his own. You go in there alone but leave your family on the way out.
Exam Structure
Hectic or not depends on individual. Engineering graphic and design was only thing that haunted me but that happened in first year or something. Labs remained frequent and if you want to learn there's a lot to do. I being mischievous guy always had other plans. Divided in semester system exams were twice in each year. From the syllabus they asked, outside the syllabus I used to reply (one gotta study to answer). Level of exams always depends subject to subject and question paper setter to QPS. But results were announced after decent time. Neither quick nor lags well behind.
Admission
In 2011, it was based on your AIR in AIEEE examination. Better the rank better the branch. Despite not being IIT or NIT, I barely managed ECE seat in Spot round on a rainy day(immaterial info). Well admission process was simple once call was made. Document verification, fee deposition(they have campus SBI branch, no online facility those days) and medical tests. Camus is kind of big, so luckily, we took our car inside the campus. Rest is history.
Faculty
Faculty was well qualified and experienced. Initial first year was cubersome as all streams were given same curriculum and one had to cope up with hugely different subjects. Over the years, Only issue with faculty was with M.tech. student that took teaching for stipund purpose. They lack practical experience and not all were able to convey what knowledge they had. Exact idea of knowledhe of permanent faculty was known only when we approached them personally for doubt clarifications.
