- I liked the challenging curriculum with relative grading. It was really difficult to get good grades.
- Reachability from the city is good. College Bus service available everyday.
- Visiting faculties are Associate Professors from VNIT. They have in-depth knowledge about the Subjects.
Dislikes
- If you wanted good grades, you had to make good connections with the professors.
- Extra-Curricular activities were sub-par.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because of the Computer Science branch and the IIIT Brand name. Faculty to Student ratio is around 1:14. All Faculties are highly qualified PhD from renowned institutes and have different teaching methodologies. Term exams used to be quite challenging and difficult to pass due to the high difficulty level of the exam and the relative grading marking scheme.
Internships Opportunities
Inception R&D Operations Pvt Ltd gave the highest stipend of Rs 90000 per month. The role offered was for making Business applications. Other prominent companies were Stepwatch France, Zeotap, Xpressbees, SolarLabs, Virtusa etc. The average Stipend was Rs 15000 per month. I was placed at MasterSoft ERP Pvt Ltd which is a leading ERP company in Central India that makes ERP solutions for Schools and Colleges. I got the role of Software Development Lifecycle intern.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placement from the 7th semester. Nvidia, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Nutanix etc. The highest package was offered at 44 lakhs per annum by Nutanix. 50% of the batch opted for placement and successfully got placed, others had planned for higher studies and other ventures. Placements aren't good enough to motivate students for opting placements. My plan after B.Tech was to get an MBA from a reputed B-school.
Fees and Financial Aid
I exactly don't know about the fee hike policy but during our time the tuition fee was 4.8 lakhs, but now the tuition fee has increased to 8 lakhs. A lot of scholarship options are available that are provided by the state governments. Full fee waivers are also availed by many students. I got placed in MasterSoft ERP for 6 months of a summer internship with a stipend of Rs 5000 per month. I didn't opt for final placements but most of the students who opted got placed.
Campus Life
Abhivyakti and Tantrafiesta are the annual tech fests, conducted in February and August respectively. All required books are available in the library. Classrooms have a modern infrastructure with smartboards for E-learning. Sports grounds like football cricket and badminton are available. Inter-IIIT sports meet happens every year. Coding club - dot-slash Gaming club - United Gamers Community Music club (unnamed) Research Club - REAP Dance club -Beats Spark Arts club - Talartsdy
Admission
The Admission is solely given on the basis of JEE Main Rank and Admissions are done through JOSAA only. If you get IIIT Nagpur in JOSAA rounds then you need to report to the college in offline mode and fill out the admission form with all the necessary documents. The admission process used to be quite unclear and students must be guided properly regarding the JOSAA counselling. Even while coming to IIIT Nagpur for admission, it was quite unclear about the documents that need to be presented and submitted during the admission process.
