Entrance Preview
Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination. I got a rank of 10356. I was not very keen about doing engineering. But I always liked Civil Engineering and was interested in doing a degree in the same.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was well and good and was easy to follow and was well structured. I will not describe the curriculum and syllabus as a perfect one as it had certain flaws in the areas such as lack in modern trends and practical and industrial exposure.
Internships Opportunities
We were not provided internship as it was one of the major shortcomings in the curriculum that it was not compulsory to attend an internship or industrial training. Hence we were not keen on doing an internship at the time.
Placement Experience
The placement and job opportunities at that time were not so good as were a batch facing the major effects of the recession at that time. However our college tried the best to bring very good companies in our college. Many of my friends got placement through this.
College Events
In our college we had an inter college fest named as Cross Roads which spanned a total of 3 days celebrated annually. Almost 40 to 45 colleges from all over India come to participate in the event and has a footfall of approximately 5000 students from all over India.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure was feasible and annual we had to pay an amount of Rs. 48500. It was not at all expensive as it was the same fees which was collected in most of the engineering colleges at the time. We had easily available bank loans also to cater for same.
Fees and Financial Aid
I did not avail the scholarship facilities given by the college. The college gave out scholarships for bright students who were financially backward. I availed a loan for paying the college fees which was easily available at the time. It had to be repaid within 3 years of the completion of the course.
Campus Life
I would like to describe my campus life as the golden period in my life. The gender ratio was almost balanced with a very good ratio of girls to boys. The students were of different religions and most of them belonged to the same ethnicity. The students came from all kinds of economic backgrounds.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities were very good compared to the hostel in the private management college. The mess was also good and the food was of very good quality. The college hostels were supervised and was also maintained well and good.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni is becoming very strong recently. We recently celebrated the 10th year of passing out of our first batch. Also the event paved way for starting of alumni groups in middle Easts, Europe and america. Occasionally conduct charity events also.
Exam Structure
The exam structure was good and we had enough study leave before the examinations and had time to study before the examinations. The exams were so structured that we got time between the examinations also. The question pattern was also good and was based on the relevance of the topic.
Admission
I appeared for the entrance and got a rank of 10356. As soon as the ranks were published we were asked to attend a counselling. We were intimated regarding when and where to attend the counselling. When we reached there we were asked to fill out our choices for admission. We were allotted the seats based upon the availability of seats for the choices that we have given.
Faculty
The faculty were the highlight of our college. We had the best faculties in terms of knowledge and helping mentality. The faculty were very well qualified and even though it was not compulsory that the faculties at that time should have post graduate
