My college experience

The college has an overall nice ambience, and I would suggest that the people choose IIT Kharagpur over new IITs because the branch does not really matter in the end, what matters is the campus life and atmosphere, which this college can definitely provide. Also, the college being far from any metro city, is an advantage for you to improve yourself as much as you can.

Eligibility criteria is 12th pass in PCM for getting into Indian Institute of Technology. JEE entrance exam is required. The cut-off is typically high for this college.

The course curriculum is really so good and is well designed by the professors which are much useful for the students who wish to do their research after their PG. We have 2 semesters in 1st year and 2nd year is completely for project .The 2 semesters course is well planned by professors which lays a good foundation for the future project work which we can further enhance to our research work if desired.

Yes, General stipend is around 10 k monthly . Inters work on real time projects and research. So, review is overall very good .and also stipend varies.some are plaid and some are unpaid.

Microsoft, Google, Samsung, etc are the companies that come for campus placement with an average salary package of around 12 lakhs per annum and the highest salary was around 70 lakhs. 98.9% of the students get placed.

In and around February, their are 2 Main Festivals at IIT Kharagpur. Cultural Festival called Spring Fest and Technology Festival called Kshitij. 100s of colleges from country participate in them, Apart from these their is also Inter IIT sports meet every year, which is like a mini National Games. Also their a Sports Festival Inside Campus. Apart from these are Inter Hostel Events through the year.

It's not affordable.its a bit expensive.My course fee at Indian Institute of Technology per year is around Rs. 2 lakh pa.

Scholarship options are available mostly to higher CGPA students and for financially backward students an MCM (Merit-cum-Means) scholarship is provided by the institute.

Good social life. Societies like Dramatics, Music, Literature, Dance, Debate, Film making, etc. One thing is for sure that one who gets in the college gets enough amount of exposure would do something better in life. General championship, Inter IIT meets, Gymkhana and societies are the areas of extracurricular activities.

Hostel fees at Indian Institute of Technology are included in the course fee. As for hostels, there are 18 men's hostel and 4 women's hostels in the campus. Food in the mess is generally ok. The whole campus is covered by WiFi support, even at the roadsides.

The alumni network is very large here and great alumni like Sundar Pichai, etc.

There is semester based exams in IIT Kharagpur, means average if we take a semester of four month, means two exam in one semester plus class test. If we talk about lab, on an average there are 3-4 labs in every weak (every lab is of 3-4 hours) and every lab treated as exam. Exams are very frequent with a hectic day.

Faculty members have immense knowledge, but half of them seriously do not know how to teach. At the end whatever grade you get, you will get that by self-studying. It is not a big issue, the other students over here are better teachers than the professors. Student to faculty ratio in most classes is 1:200, whereas, in departmental courses, it's 1:50. The methods used are advanced. Also, students here are not much into academics, they study only one week prior to the exams. But, there are regular tests other than mid and end semester exams.
