IIT Kharagpur: Dedicated to mould the future of nation

We all know the good s but I think favoritism play a great role in campus and social skills are not developed that much. Nobody helps you except yourself in this matter.

I wrote JEE advanced-2014.One has to be in top 0.1% among all the applicants according to available seats for category reservation.There is no interview process involved.I did not choose the course rather I filled some choices and I got my branch according to my rank.

The course curriculum is old and recently administration is trying to change it to introduce more practical learning. One can choose several additional, micro-credit course, minor and micro-specialization according to his interest subject to candidate's performance in his major CGPA/SGPA. Many research initiatives are taken and can be found from college website.

The college do act as a bridge to provide internship but some fortunate and hardworking students get success through it and even bag PPOs. Experience varies with companies and stipend also. Inside campus, the stipend is around 4000 per month.

Placement scenario is excellent.The career development center and placement committee members work hard for this.We have two placement sessions.The placement percentage of different branch varies.For my branch, it remains 70-85% in general. Trending branches get 100 % placement like CSE, Mathematics and computing.Major companies those visit our campus are in the field related to software development, data analytics.They also include many fortune 500 companies.Eg. Tower research, Mckinsey, EY, Microsoft, Google etc.For non-core, average package is around 9-10 lakhs per annum for others its around 7-9 lakhs per annum.

We have the departmental fests, Cultural fest Spring fest and technical fest Kshitij and also management fest in our campus. They all are big with huge footfalls. Average footfall varies but highest in spring fest and lowest in not so popular department fest.

Tuition fee per year is INR 90000, Other fees per year is around INR 60000 for 2014 batch. The total fee for four years will be around 6 lakhs.However recently the fee structure has been changed and tuition fee has been increased to 2 lakhs. These are maximum figures.Scholarships are there mostly for tuition fee exemption up to 100%.

Yes. I got MCM scholarship. You can avail one scholarship at a time. The loan can be availed at banks inside the campus easily.

The best thing here in IIT is that the students are involved in extracurricular activities other than studies and every one is active here as we are far from city life. the extracurricular activities are not for fun but it gives the students a real-life experience to explore their talent.We have all the facilities on campus and in halls too.

Yes. All the undergraduate student are residing in the hostel by rules. Rooms are awesome with basic facilities. My room is re-innovated, so it has a mirror, good flooring, bed, table, and chairs, cupboard and five plug outlet for electric supply. Mine is a single room and not shared from second year onward. e don't have PGs. Semester fee for room and mess food is around INR 22000(8500+13500).

A huge network as we have started from 1951. Yes, it provides the platform to interact alumni from the department, your hall etc. Alumni do contribute as per their interest.

Exams are not that frequent but sometimes surprise test happens otherwise they are too much concentrated near mid semester and end semester examination.Sometimes It is chill but sometimes one will get tired and frustrated, it all depends on lifestyle and how you perform on that day.

Most of them have Ph.D. from reputed universities.They are quite interactive but want student should show some interest too. The standard of teaching is as good as world standards but the curriculum is old and I think pedagogy training should be given to professors and they should either concentrate research or teaching but not on both heavily.
