A glimpse into the life at XIMB

Business management was always the path for me considering my end goal to be something along the lines of management. Doing it from a brand like XIMB would just push me toward getting a better start. Once I entered the campus, I realized the competition. The faculty were laureates of their domains, almost everyone had a Ph.D. Approximately, a faculty would oversee 10 students. That was the faculty-to-student ratio. The teaching methods are mostly offline, with case studies being presented and solving them with peers in the class. The exams would be there every 3 to 4 months with mid-terms in between. Considering that one was prepared, the exams were at par with what was taught in the class.

A multitide of companies come to offer internship opportunities to students. If the students perform well in the same, they are offered a PPO/PPI oppurtunity as well. There are different roles and responsibilities that depend directly on the company that hires students.

The students are eligible for placements from the 4th trimester. The college offers a multitude of companies that offer packages as high as 71lpa (Microsoft). There is always a 100% placement guarantee from the college. Once I am placed in a company, I would like to grow in the field, see the growth in the same and try to learn in the field to become an SME.

The total course fee for two years comes around 22 lacs. It generally stays in the same spectrum over the years. As far as I am aware, there are no scholarships as such and for the financial assistance, the college provides the contact of banks that provide student loans without asking for any collateral. I got placed in Vedant Fashions Ltd. as a Business development intern, gaining a stipend of around 80K consolidated. The experience of working here was unparalleled as I learnt a lot of things, gained interest in the same and felt that I could grow in this field.

The campus hosts Xpressions, the biggest cultural fest in East India. It happens around January wherein a lot of star-studded events take place over the span of 3 days. There is a library with a wide range of books available for people to issue or study there. The classrooms have power socket-enabled tables, a projector, and the standard whiteboard and blackboard combination. The students of XIMB bring laurels in sports as well, and the campus is equipped with both indoor and outdoor facilities. Sports like basketball, football, cricket, and tennis have supporting grounds and equipment that are maintained to the best of their conditions. Indoor sports such as pool, table tennis, carrom, and chess also take place for which there is a separate room. The college hosts a lot of committees that handle the activities that happen in it. Starting from organizing the fests, to doing the PR of the college to even conducting fun jamming sessions in the college.

Post completing my Bachelor, I was working in a firm for 22 months. With that work experience, I took CAT in 2021, aspiring to enter into a B School for the batch of 2022-24. I started to apply for different exams on the side to maximize my chance. Based on the different percentile predictors, I was applying to various colleges. XIMB was a big brand, even some of my friends had passed out from the same college. They were placed in good companies. After looking through the past estimates of the cutoff, I was quite affirmative about receiving a call from XIMB. Post that, the main focus was to convert this chance. This compelled me to apply for this. Through the website, I realized that I had the leverage of being a domicile of the state which would give me priority. I availed the same. Post clearing the cutoff, I started with the admission process and reached out to different avenues for the educational loan.
