Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this because of my rank in jee advanced and further I was mostly interested in doing research and higher studies. So this course is mostly oriented towards research. Hence I chose this course. The student: faculty ratio is 21:1.The faculty here are highly qualified. They have done their Phd from top universities across the world and postdocs also and are involved in various research projects. Their teaching language is very much understandable and are very friendly by nature. They are ready to help all the time. The midterm examination happens in 1.5 months and the end sem exams happen in 4 months. For most of the subjects they follow relative grading and for a few subjects they follow absolute grading where 35 is the passing mark. The end sem exams are a bit tougher than mids.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are provided during 4th year for the dual degree students and during 3rd year for the btech students. There are many core and non-core profile companies coming to provide internships. Also, students taking finance as a minor are also provided internships.
Placement Experience
The college provides placement opportunities. Its average package is 23 lakhs per annum. for the non-core profile, the placement package is very high reaching 1 crore for some profiles. In the core sector, the job is less. In my course, during the 5th year, students become eligible for campus placements. Many companies like Goldman Sachs, bitcoin, Microsoft, Tata Steel etc come to recruit. More than 1600 offers are made. The placement percentage is 28 per cent for btech and 34 per cent for dual degree programmes. After getting my dual degree, I would pursue Phd from top universities across the world.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is approximately 3 lakhs per annum for the general and OBC candidates.For the sc and st candidates they don't have to pay the tuition fees.They only have to pay hostel charges and mess fees. There is fees concession for students whose family income is less than 5 lakhs , 3 lakhs and 1 lakhs per annum. Also there are many government scholarships for meritorious students like ONGC scholarships etc.
Campus Life
Life of the IIT campus is the most awesome and chill life. With a total campus area of 2100 acres, it feels like a small town. We have to use cycles for travelling from one place to another. With great peer groups, we get to learn a lot from them. And the seniors are also very nice and famous for giving funds. We have mainly two fests conducted in a year that is spring Fest and tech fest Kshitij. Also, there happen other departmental fests. These two fests are conducted at the end of January. There is Asia's biggest library which is the Central Library. It has a huge collection of books of all kinds. The classrooms are located in the Nalanda classroom complex. They have gallery forms and smart boards. Regarding sports, students are trained to play inter-IIT sports. There are many active societies but the ones under TSG are important for POR.Like entrepreneurship cell, alumni cell, international relation cell etc
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility is very much nice. All the facilities are provided be it free wifi connection, purified water, chimneys etc. The meal quality is also very good.meals are provided 4 times in a day.The meals are very hygienic and we have different menus for each month. During summers we are provided with lemonade, lassi etc and water melons,ice creams along with meals. The registration for hostel is done at the same time of paying college fees. It is approximately 34,000. The hostel is located inside the campus.
Admission
To be eligible to get admitted to this college we have to write JEE ADVANCED exam. After clearing that exam, based on rank various branches will be allowed. To be eligible to write JEE advanced exam first we have to qualify jee mains exam. The cutoff mark for the general candidate is 90 percentile. After you qualify jee mains you can apply to jee advanced portal to sit for jee advanced. Application fees are 2900 for general candidates and 1450 for sc, st and female candidates. There are reservation:27 per cent for OBC,14 for sc and 7 for st, 10 for ews along with 20 percent reserved seats for females.
