Basic Walkthrough of Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata.

I chose Computer Science and Engineering(CSE) out of my choice as I have a huge interest in technology and coding. Also, the placement scenarios and job opportunities are also better in this field. There are lots of faculty members in HITK for all courses. Also, the student count is huge in this college. The exact ratio is hard to tell but the faculty members are more than sufficient for the number of students. The faculty members are highly qualified and the teaching process is also very decent like that in every good college out there. The lab assistants are also very helpful and there are personal counseling classes where students can individually discuss their problems with the associated expert faculty member. Because of the pandemic, the period of our first session 2022-2023 was reduced so we did get less time for preparation. The term exams were pretty moderate and were easy to pass but hard to score well.

Many companies visit our college like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft with above 20lpa offers and mass recruiting companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Webel, etc. also visit with average of 4-5lpa offers. Roles may include various positions like sales manager, web developer(backend maybe), and various entry-level jobs in IT sectors and companies.

From 3rd semester, students are eligible to sit for placements. Many well-known companies give offers like Amazon, Google, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Webel, Cognizant, etc. The highest package was around 36lpa and the average package is around 5lpa. Almost all students get placed over here. I will pursue higher studies after getting the degree.

The total fees for the 4 years B.Tech course stands around 3.6 lakhs divided into 8 semesters(not equally but in a slight incrementing order). Other than that for admission, it takes around 72000 INR which includes the first semester fees(not fully sure). Many scholarships are also available and those who fulfill the criteria can avail it. Scholarships like Swami Vivekananda Scholarship, etc. I am still in 2nd Year so I did not get any job or internships yet.

Our college sets one of the benchmarks in case of Fests. There are huge fests organized like Nascent which is the Freshers of Engineering batch, etc etc. They are organized in suitable months. HITK consists of two huge libraries and almost all kinds of books and journals are available there. Classrooms are neat, and well organized, and consist of green boards, whiteboards, and projectors. There are many computer labs with a huge number of computer systems. The subject-oriented labs are also great with proper equipment and tools. Sports also play an important role in our college both indoors and outdoor. Big grassy fields and well-maintained courts are there where coaches train the students involved in the particular sport. There are total of 22 clubs of different genres and almost all clubs are very active. Each and every student takes part in one or multiple clubs.

The admission process here involves WBJEE counseling - 80% seats, JEE MAINS counseling - 10% seats, and Management quota - 10% seats. Eligibility of the course varies from stream to stream. In Computer Science and Technology(CSE) under B.Tech in HITK in the year 2022, a WBJEE rank of around 4900 or better was the least eligibility criteria to get CSE after all rounds of counseling. However, the rank criteria are slightly different each year. Talking about JEE MAINS counselling and Management quota seats, I have no idea but it is available on various websites. Application forms can be availed after the counseling process. It might be availed online after the following counseling steps or can be availed offline too. I have not availed of reservation benefits but as it is a private college Reservation seats are very less as much as I got to know. I see no issues regarding the admission process as it was smooth. Maybe some documentation can be reduced which is unnecessary.
