Remarks
Our college was one of the leading names in private engineering colleges, and continues to be so even today. Overall experience was good, and the best part is that the college infrastructure has improved manifold in the last 7 years.
Entrance Preview
I wrote WBJEE 2006. The results were declared in terms of state rank, which was followed by counselling. Based on the rank I obtained, I selected the Electrical Engg branch at this college. There was no other group discussion or interview process.
Course Curriculum Overview
I am proud of the fact that we had one of the most proficient departments of electrical engineering compared to all private engineering colleges in West Bengal. We had ample opportunities to apply what we learned in the practical labs which were part of the curriculum. Especially in the 4th year, we engaged in research projects, along with our faculty members. Apart from the core electrical subjects. we also have non-core electives - environment and ecology, business communication and economics, which were engaging.
Internships Opportunities
No. I independently sought out internship opportunities. However, our college had scope for in-house projects which could be pursued on an end-term basis.
Placement Experience
Placement was satisfactory. In my batch about 70% of students got placed. TCS and Cognizant was the major recruiter. However, we were unfortunate to miss out on Infosys, but it came in subsequent years.
College Events
We had an annual cultural fest "Mesmerizer" and annual technical fest "Avenir", supported and sponsored by the college. 2000 average footfall was achieved, when we went inter-college for the first time in 2009.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The semester wise fees was around 40000 Rs, which came to around, 3.5 Lakhs in 4 years, which was quite reasonable for a private engineering college which ranked in top 10.
Fees and Financial Aid
No.
Campus Life
We had a technical club called Phoenix which had ample opportunities for leadership and skills in various fields. It continues to be one of the forums, which students look up to even today.
Hostel Facilities
No. However, whatever I heard from fellow students, who took the hostel facility, the arrangements were up to the mark.
Alumni/Alumna
The Alumni Network was very scant, and still continues to be weak. The platform is still being worked upon.
Exam Structure
Absolutely not. College timings were comfortable. The culture, although marred a bit by political outclashes now and then, was conducive for a memorable engineering college life :-)
Faculty
We had a host of senior faculty in the Electrical Engg department. A few of them were visiting faculties from Jadavpur University, considered as one of the best in our state.
