Reality of iiitn

The admission is done on the basis of jee mains rank. The seat is allocated in josaa counseling. The cutoff of the last round for cse is approx 27,000 and for ece is approx 50,000. The course curriculum is very close to industry demand. From the 1st year onwards, we have a data structure and application programming in our course. As computer science is having promising career opportunity, so I chose this course. We are approx 1200 students and 30 faculty members. So faculty-student ratio is 1:40 which is not bad. All the faculty members are phd graduates. Some are good and some are not as good. But overall in college, students prefer to study on their own from youtube and books. We are having term exams after 1 and half month gap. Terms exams are not too much difficult. You have to study 1 week before exams to get good marks.

Placement is average in our college. Students become eligible after 3 years for college placements but internships are allowed in 2 or 3 years. Around 80% of students get placed. After the degree, some students also go for further studies also. My plan after getting my degree is to take a job.

Studying in this college is quite expensive for a student who belongs to a middle-class family. You have to pay approx 16 lakhs for 4 years (including the hostel). As this college is ppp so fees hike is not too much. The scholarship is not provided by the college as it is newly opened iiit (2016) . The scholarship is only provided by the state government. Since not all state governments provide scholarships, it becomes quite expensive for middle-class students. Not all students registered got on-campus placement. Many students apply for off-campus placement. Most of the students got placed. Some apply for further studies.

Campus life is not bad. Clubs are not active . Social life is average and depends on your friend circle. Our technical fest is Tantrafeista (October) and our cultural fest is abhivyakti (February). The library is small with few books. All the classrooms have a projector and good infrastructure and are fully air-conditioned. In the name of sports, we have a badminton court, cricket ground(not good), basketball court ( under construction) and indoor ( tt, carrom, chess ).
