Likes
- Teachers are friendly and are always available even is whatsapp to help you.
- Placement is quite decent but as I said eariler, you need to stand out from the rest.
- Library, I have to say. The cost to buy books are almost negligible.
Dislikes
- Canteen. Ahh the worst of all I think. Don't expect much from it. If you are a rice lover then this is the best canteen you will have. But if you love fast food, I am already sorry for you.
- Sports ground. Another major drawback of FIT. Very compact. We do have a lot of sports but lag in the area to conduct all of them simultaneously.
- Internet speed in labs. All your works will require internet and the speed of wifi is very less.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose AIML because of the new future in AI. It's better to have an edge over others even if it is a slight one. As each class has a capacity of 60, one teacher is assigned to one subject, it is 1:60. But this is a class and not a tuition class. You can't expect a better ratio. However, you will be given attention by every teacher, no need to worry about it.
Internships Opportunities
I am in 3rd year so I don't have a clear idea regarding this :) However, companies like Cognizant and TCS lead the way when it comes to mass recruitment for internships(story of almost all the engineering colleges). P.S.- I am giving a rating based on seniors' experience.
Placement Experience
See this question is so wrong. When I visited the campus for the first time they said "We will bring companies but you will have to grab the opportunity". You just cannot expect the college to give you placement if you don't study well. Blaming is very easy. From the 7th sem, i.e., the 4th year your internships will start. Companies like Mindtree, CTS, TCS, Wipro, etc. visit our college.
Fees and Financial Aid
When I took admission, it was 3.87 lakhs. The previous and next years also followed the same fee structure. That is 2020, 2021 and 2022 had the same amount. I don't know what it was before 2020. Recently, for the year 2023, there has been a slight increase- Rs 4.01 lakhs which is not a very high hike considering it remained the same for at least 3 years.
Campus Life
Annual cultural fest: Unicorn, Annual tech fest: Unitron Both are conducted in the evening, probably after February. All your course-related books will be provided by the college library. You will be allowed to keep all books till the end of your semester. Now this is where FIT lags- sports. I love sports and the day I visited college, the sports ground was a big NO for me.
Admission
Eligibility: qualifying WBJEE, JEE Mains with a decent rank. Once your counseling process is over and your name comes under this college, you will have to go for physical verification on the campus. You will be provided with everything there. I guess reservation benefits mean management quota, i.e., you will get into the college by paying some extra amount. It depends on how many seats are remaining in the particular domain you choose.
