ALL ABOUT IIT DHANBAD

Electrical engineering course is quite tough when compared to other branches(circuital will always be tough). The faculty are very good though. If you wanna pursue electrical core in the future, then you can definitely opt for electrical engineering in IIT Dhanbad as the environment and the faculties will help you a lot, whether be it in academics or in research.

Companies like Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Atlassian, Accenture etc. visit our campus during intern season. The internship opportunities are quite good in our college. The average stipend offered in internships is around 60-70k per month. You should definitely have projects for gaining a better advantage during interviews.

The placement season in IIT Dhanbad generally starts from the 7th semester. The intern season starts between the 4th and 5th semesters. The placement stats are quite good in our college as compared to others with an average package offered being 20 lacs. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Atlassian, IBM etc. visit the campus during placement and intern seasons. The highest package offered in our college (on campus ) is 56 lacs.

There are a total of 8 semesters in my course. The fees for each semester sum around to be 140000(without mess fees). The mess fees are around 15000-20000 per semester. The fees per semester are almost constant and there is a very minimal hike in fees every year. There are various scholarship opportunities for students in college who have less income(less than 5 lacs) like MCM etc. You can take bank loans at a minimal rate and avail of bank benefits as they are in very close proximity to our college.

We all know that IITs are all about campus life. The annual cultural fest in our college is SRIJAN which is generally held in february every year. Many celebrities are invited to our college (like Mohit Chauhan and Darshan Raval) and many events are organised during that period. The annual tech fest is CONCETTO which is normally held in October every year. Hackathons,robo wars etc. are held during that period. Overall the Fests of our college are one of the best in our country. There is a much more vibrant club culture in our college. Both cultural clubs and tech clubs are active in our college. Also, almost every sports facility is provided to us by our college and students are trained well. Also, our campus has Asia's second-biggest tech library comprising of hundreds of books and journals and very huge reading space which can accommodate up to 3000-4000 people at a time.

for first years, The allotted hostel is an amber hostel. The conditions of the room are not as good as expected. The rooms in amber are provided with double occupancy. But for 2nd and 3rd years, aquamarine is the allotted hostel, which is one of the best hostels of India. The rooms of aquamarine are just triple of rooms of Amber with double occupancy in every room. The mess quality of aquamarine and amber is above average. For girls, the hostel allotted is rosaline. The meal quality of rosaline is average.

The admission process is through JOSAA. After JEE Advanced results are announced, JOSAA counselling starts for all IITs NITs and GFTIs. Those students who have a rank under 12000-13000 in JEE advanced can get into a branch like environmental engineering or mining machinery engineering at IIT Dhanbad. For circuital branches, the range of rank is between 1300- 7000 where 7000 is the closing rank for the electrical engineering branch. The admission process is self-understandable and one should clearly read all the instructions in the manual provided by JOSAA. Reservations are up to 50 per cent in my college.
