Amazing only if you are interested!

It's a brilliant college for you if you have the passion to become a hotelier. You need to work your ass off once you get into this college because the competition is pretty tough here in the college itself. Don't just come here just because you didn't get through any other college. Because that's the biggest mistake students do . you should be aware of the career your choosing. So do some research before coming here. Overall I love my college, & the best part for me is the kitchen & kitchen practicals where I have learnt so many things over these three years & gave so many gaalis too by our chefs. Don't over think , if you feel like it just do it.

NCHMCT JEE is the name of the exam. My AIR was 3227 & I got selected in IHM Mumbai under OBC-NCL. The reason of choosing this college is pretty simple for me ,I love to cook.& what's better than choosing what you love as your career option.

It's basically a three year bsc course in which you will be taught about the basic 4 core departments of a hotel namely Housekeeping,food&beverage, food production & front office. Apart from this you have 2-3 extra subject each semester that are pretty boring but difficult at the same time such as financial management, food science, facility planning, hotel engineering and many more. It's not like you will be cooking the whole week(college runs 5 days a week

There is a mandatory 6 months industrial training that every student has to go through in the third sem of the course. Basically, you spend the entire third sem for this. The college help the students in fixing the interview with different hotels. You can choose the hotels of your preferences & self-apply to them. Stipend is pretty less, mostly 1k per month .if you are in Marriott property than 4k. This is going to be the best part of your three years.Most of the students give up during this period because of the long shift hours and the work we do. This acts like a moment of truth for all the students. We get a taste of the real hotel business.

All the top hotel companies cones for the pavement.the placement process starts in the beginning of 3rd year goes till the end of the 3rd year. The truth is that if you are in this business then you will be paid very little in the beginning. It gets better with time& experience. The best job is offered by oberoid called ocld( Google for hotel management students). Hotels like taj, ITC, marriaot, accor etc also offers management trainee programmes. Pay range-15k-30k in the beginning of more in case of ITC if you get management trainee one. Its not about money in this business.

The biggest and the most popular one is the CORNUCOPIA, totally and completely organized by the students. With a footfall of over 2000 people that happens for 2 days in the month of March. We organize meet and greets with famous chefs during these two days. We have many food stalls, housekeeping decoration, all made by the students are being sold in this event. Apart from this culture curry or any festivities is celebrated with full enthusiasm in our college.

Fee structure is feasible. It's about 60-70k per sem. & YOU DONT GET HOSTEL FACILITY IN THE FIRST YEAR. So it can be a little expensive in the first year staying in rent that too in Mumbai. You get hostel only in 2nd & 3rd year. For NRI students you get hostel facility in the first year. I don't know if the girls get hostel in the first ear itself or not(PLEASE do some enquiry)

You will find no trace of bullying here in our college. I have never heard someone calling their senior sir or mam once. Girls are less than boys as usual. We have parties in clubs(only if you want) on the occasion of farewell , fresher's party etc. Very few students from North East region though. You will find students from all over India .gay bi straight everyone's is treated equally here.it's Mumbai nobody gives a shit about you and your personal life. The staff is very supportive. & you can seek for their help for anything at any moment of time.

Hostel facility is available only for the 2nd year and 3rd yaer students. You have to stay outside on rent or PG for the first year which could be pretty expensive in a city like Mumbai. NRI students gets hostel in the 1st year. Even girls gets it in the first year itself (IM NOT SURE ABOUT IT) the food is great compared to the other colleges in India. Nonveg dish every 5-6 times a week. Breakfast facility is superb. You can make your own egg. Tea in the evening. Court for volleyball and badminton. Hostel fee for the 3rf year is 30k & the mess charge is 40k.

Exams are not hectic at all. Yeah but the kitchen could be pretty nerve wrecking for some. We have kitchen final exams where you have to make an entire menu by your own. Though not very large number of students flunk. We have a mid term exam and then term end final exam(total 2 exam) in each of the 6 semester.

This particular exam happens every year in the last week of April. Forms for appearing the exam comes out in the month of December till March every year. The only criteria for givinv this exam is that the candidate must have cleared his/her 10+2 with English as one of the subject. Candidates appearing for 10+2 can also apply. The results comes out in the last week of may & the counselling starts few weeks later where you will be able to choose colleges according to your preference. Allotment is totally up to the cutoff rank of the colleges. So better study a bit before the entrance exams & secure a good rank.

IHM Mumbai has the best faculty among all the ihms in India. & trust me I'm just saying the facts. We have chefs with an experience of over 20-30 years teaching in our college. In terms of kitchen facilities ,probably the best kitchen facilities for catering students in India without any doubt. Most of the faculty members has a history of hotel business.
