Heritage institute of technology is autonomous college

The college has grown ever since its establishment to become one of the best engineering colleges in Eastern India. However a lot more needs to be done on the placements front as bulk placements with few Indian companies does not provide the students right opportunities. The management of the college is committed for the development of the students and the training and placement cell works to improve the standards. The management of the college is easily approachable and a student can anytime reach them his,her queries,difficulties.

I took JELET (LATERL ENTRY ) in the year 2017, and got the rank 51 After so many research though online and asking the seniors I took the decision to take admission in this college not because of it's brand name because of the placement record, the standard of study and being a final year student I am very much satisfied

Four year curriculum is divided into 8 semesters with first and second semester covering general engineering subjects. The specialization related courses starts from 2nd year onward. Different streams offered are computer science, information technology, mechanical, chemical, biotechnology, instrumentation, electronics, and electrical engineering. The course is well designed and covers both practical laboratories and theory classes. After completion of 2nd year, the student is supposed to complete a 2 months summer internship programme

HIT does not conduct summer placements on the campus. However, they have tie-up with few companies which provide training. In this case, students are charged a nominal amount for the training. Students are also free to do summer internship on their own. They are just required to inform the departmental head and training and placement office regarding the company where they will do their internship/training

HIT-K conducts final placements on the campus several companies visit the campus for placements. Salary offered is in the range of Rs 3 Lakh to Rs 5 lakh per annum. The college invite mass recruiters like Infosys, Wipro, TCS, CTS and thereby see 80-90 per cent placement season every year

The college organises two events every year the cultural fest Eclecia and tech fest Dakshh is organised by the studentsﾒ affair council. The fest sees huge participation from colleges in WB, Jharkhand, Bihar and nearby states. The campus organises also organised inter-college sports tournament however, these tournaments are organised at an ad-hoc level depending on the time, interest of students and council members

The fee structure is quiet affordable. 45000 per semester. this includes the lab fee,the examination process , the council fee, sports arrangement and everything that the college permits The college charges around Rs 4-6 lakhs for 4 years. The Return on investment is average. The college has tie-up with banks for education loans as well. The hostel cost, mess cost and others are separate if the student opts for the same. Cost of living in Kolkata is moderate.

HIT-K offers scholarship to students on merit-cum-means basis. The scholarship ranges from 10% to 100% and depends on annual income, and the academic performance. The institute provide limited number of scholarships every year (around 6-8 per year per department).

Campus life in HIT-K is average. Events, sports are organised which keeps you busy and engaged throughout the year. Apart from that the college has library, common room, sports infrastructure and many more which keeps you engaged when you are free on campus

The campus has boys hostel and girls hostel within the campus. The facilities of the hostels are good students get all the requisite facilities for a comfortable stay. The hostels are not very big and thus getting accommodation inside the campus has always remained a challenge and it is advisable to book right on the day of admission. Food available in the mess are of good quality

College seniors are always helpful and more like a friend. They are always available for any kind of help, no ragging is done. It's just like having an elder brother/sister

Each subject has a mid-term and an end term examination which are conducted by West Bengal University of Technology. Apart from theory examination, each subject has a laboratory component (practical exam) which account for 20-25% of the total score.k

Selection to the programme will be based on merit. If the candidate qualifies any of the entrance exams, then they will be allotted a seat in the college during the counselling session. The candidate must report at the institution for the admission process. Candidates selected for admission must pay the tuition fee as well as any other fees prescribed by MAKAUT or the State Govt. Payment must be made in the form of a DD/Banker’s Cheque/Pay Order, drawn in favour of ‘Heritage Institute of Technology’, payable at Kolkata within the specified date. Faculty of computer science and IT specialization is very good and experienced. They have varied research interest. However, for other specialization such as mechanical, chemical, biotechnology, instrumentation, electronics, and electrical engineering more experienced faculty is required.Senior faculty holds PhD degree while others are M.Tech qualified. Some of the faculty conducts research work throughout the year. Faculty are easily reachable as they can be seen in the department if not in class.
