Remarks
The college was well managed. I had no issues during my time with this college.
Entrance Preview
I did not give any entrance exam. I did my 12th in 1998 and at that time there were no entrance exams for engineering admission. I was easily able to score a seat in Civil engineering in my first round of admission. Later on in second round of admission, i got seat in Mechanical engineering. My score was 78% aggregate with 84% each in PCM and PCB. With my score, i was not able to get computer seat. The admission process was centralized and good cutoff was maintained for most streams under this college. The reason i chose this college is because it had good reputation and it came under Pune university.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was set depending on the time availability and about 60-70% would get covered in the classes. Every year there used to be 2 semesters and each semester would cover theory and practical sessions. The semester would end with practical submissions and holidays followed by exams.
Internships Opportunities
Yes. There were some pass outs of the same college teaching first year students. I do not have any idea of general stipend .
Placement Experience
When i graduated in 2002, the market was hit with recession. This college had the best campus placements and top packages offered to selected candidates. Till 2000-2001, almost every top company had picked up candidates from this college. Even in 2002 when there was recession, companies came and there were placements.
College Events
The college celebrates Annual day every year. The event takes place in the auditorium. On this day you get to meet all your fellow students from other streams. It is an occasion of celebration, felicitation, feast and festivity when students present not only their wonderful performances but also receive honors for their curricular and co-curricular achievements.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is quite simple. For every year, the fee gets collected at the beginning of the year. There are no hidden expenses involved. You need to make a demand draft in favor of the institute and submit it to the respective office. The representative present would hand you the receipt of draft received.
Fees and Financial Aid
Back in 1998, the college fee was affordable and there were free seats available for eligible candidates. Most of the lot would not feel the need to avail any loan facility.
Campus Life
The campus life was good. There were lots of canteens and accommodation options available in the nearby area. The college was in Pimpri area until my 3rd year and moved to Akurdi only in the final year. The Akurdi campus was still developing, but still, there was food and stay options available with close vicinity to the campus. The gender ratio was okay except in the mechanical engineering stream. There was separate women college and getting into that college was a bit easier than in the co-ed college.
Hostel Facilities
I was a local and my own place is very near to college. My outstation friends would invite me to their hostel for study or project and from what i saw that the hostel facilities are good. No friend complained about facilities there. The neighborhood is safe and there are many eateries in the area. Also affordable printing and scanning options are available.
Alumni/Alumna
I did not have any interaction with my seniors, but my batch mates were very helpful and there used to be notes and effort sharing during practical and theory classes.
Exam Structure
The labs were spacious enough to accommodate all students at a time. Also, every student would get a separate workstation in the workshop. Only in first semester ,students struggle to understand the structure, but the same pattern of theory and practical sessions would continue from second semester with students being well prepared this time.
Admission
Getting into any college under Pune University was in itself a challenge back in 1998 when there were limited colleges and the cutoffs were very high. The admission process was seamless and there were rounds based on seats available. Entry into any college was purely on merit only. The admission forms were available in government college of engg, Pune.
Faculty
The faculty was experienced and qualified. Most teachers were very senior level and had their own working experience. Some were visiting faculty and would also teach at the pune university. Some teachers were in the same college for straight 10 years and knew the best possible ways to cover the subject and achieve above 60% in limited time available for each semester.
