Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I had an interest in the electronics stream since my childhood well that's a personal bias but this branch is going to grow like no other in the coming future. Well, I am not well aware of the exact numbers but the ratio is not bad in my opinion. The faculty here is better than I expected some of them are even from very prestigious colleges and some of them have also taught in top NITs.Coming to exams now, since I have just entered this college I could not give you a complete review but as far as now, the sessionals were moderately tough and before the end of sem 2 sessionals were conducted and they were moderately difficult to pass.
Internships Opportunities
the are summer/ winter internship programs that require areas of expertise in fields like parallel computing, machine learning, artificial intelligence etc some companies like IBM gave the opportunity to grab internship even in the 3rd semester but the majority of the internship offers are taken by 3rd year students.
Placement Experience
from the 7th semester, the students become eligible for the placements. There were many companies that came for the placement namely NVIDIA, GOLDMAN SACH, ALPHA GREP, etc. The highest placement was 90 LPA (off campus) and the average placement was 14 LPA, the number of students placed was 134 out of 151 eligible students (88%). My plans after getting a degree are to do further studies abroad and then do a Ph.D. in the same subject.
Fees and Financial Aid
No there is no fixed fee hike policy as of right now and the structure is pretty simple you just have to pay a fee before the start of the next semester. there are like more than 20 scholarship policies for different state students, for example: Mukhya Mantri Medhavi Vidhyarthi Yojna is for MP, and many more.
Campus Life
well, this is a big con for IIIT Nagpur because it is not that developed in terms of infrastructure, the sporting facilities are also not good we only have a basketball court when we talk about sports but we do have a ground which is under development currently, social life is okayish but we do have a good number of clubs in our college some of them are PAHAL, GDSC, PROBE,SAC,CRA etc. There are mainly 2 festivals conducted over the year ABHIVYAKTI: the cultural fest and TANTRAFIESTA: the tech fest.
Admission
starting from the entrance exam, the entrance exam I took was JEE mains. in the JEE mains exam I got 95.35 percentile which gave me the rank of 53k(EWS applied), well on this rank you can also get into some NITs with lower branches but I preferred IIIT Nagpur because it is a decent college placement-wise and location-wise also it is better than iiits like Bhagalpur and jabalpur. So if youre getting a rank close to 50k in jee mains coming to this college would be a very good choice considering other options.
Other Applied Colleges
Birla Institute of Technology - [BIT Mesra] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Chemical Engineering)
I always wanted to study tech related subjects and chemical engineering did not interest me enough to join BIT mesra ,one more reason that i have is that IIITs will become better in coming future so I do not regret my decision.
