Likes

Our college has politics inside the campus.
The political party inside the campus have to conduct good quality events for winning elections.
Overall fees is lesser than NITs and IITs.

Dislikes

The college timing is from 9 am to 4 pm.
The attendance criteria is 75%. We need to attend the boring lectures for Attendence.
The majority of the facilities of the colleges are not used.

Course Curriculum Overview

The teachers are very well qualified. They are approachable too. The course curriculum overall is effective. But there need some changes in the curriculum. Our college is following APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University Curriculum.

Class Size: 75Course Fees: INR 10000 per year

Internships Opportunities

I don't have a clear idea of internships at our college. Till this year we don't have leave from our university for internships. Now onwards we have 6 month leave in the final year for internships. I think this will attract many companies to offer internships in our college.

Placement Experience

As per my knowledge, the placement of CSE has declined from 2023 to the 24 batch. Only very few people(less than 5) got more than 15 lpa. Many people got 12 lpa, 11 lpa, 10 lpa offers. For CSE average package is less than 10 lpa.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee is very low. If you are staying in the college hostel, you have around 40k per year for mess fees and hostel fees. If you are not in the college hostel you have at least 60k per year for hostel and mess fees. However there are various scholarships based on your academic excellence and financial condition.

Campus Life

We have our cultural fest dhwani and our technical fest drishti. Our campus is not a fully residential campus. But the campus is active till 9 PM including mess, sports facilities, labs, workshops, etc.

Admission

Btech admission is based on the Kerala engineering entrance exam rank. B Arch admission based on the NATA score. College of engineering Trivandrum Btech in computer science and engineering last round cutoff was 481.

Placement Experience:

we are eligible for placement from the 7th sem. Many famous and small compines vist our college. Infosys, WIPRO, TCS vist our college. But the big companies take only few student. Highest package was 1,00,000. And the average package is around 4,00,000. Almost all students gets placed from the campus .

My Experience at NIT Calicut

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance.The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies.The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.

Is engineering here worth it?

Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan,infosys,commandtech,bimlabs,gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA

Life at CET

This college is the best government college in Kerala. It has been consistently first in KIRF ranking. It has very cheap fees. The campus is very beautiful and spacious (about 200 acres). My best choice of colleges very IITs and NITs like most people. I couldn't crack JEE. I only applied to this college because I had very high ranking in KEAM exam and was confident of acceptance. KEAM exam is a lot easier to crack than JEE. It has basic higher secondary school syllabus. To get my course you would have to be around 700th rank. To get other courses in my college you can have rank as low as 20k....Read More
