Remarks

There is no complaints about the college management. There are plenty of good points all are mentioned above. The only negative or Non-positive point (as I felt) is that, the placement of Electrical engineering students in Core field of electrical is not up to the mark. If you are going to take Core stream, you should avoid all private colleges.

Entrance Preview

I appeared in WBJEE in 2012. I have always been keen to circuit branch i.e. Electrical Engineering, thus decided to opt this branch. My JEE rank was 1900. I would have got IT in Jadavpur University, but due to my interest in circuits, I opted for Electrical Engineering in Heritage. After JU and BESU, the only college came to my mind is HIT-K. I had some seniors from my school, passing out from this prestigious college..Thus without hesitating, I took admission in HIT-K.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Even if we were the first batch of Electrical Engineering of my college, the infrastructure was above expectation. The course structure was well planned. There was sufficient amount of facilities in laboratories, classrooms as well. In the 4th year of the course, we had plenty of time and opportunities so that we can invest the time in research.

Internships Opportunities

The college provides facility to do an internship in several fields. There is a huge scope to do an internship in Abroad at NJIT, New Jersey, USA. Also, there is a stipend scheme for students belonging to below poverty level known as Tuition Waiver Scheme.

Placement Experience

4

if you want to get placed in IT sector, do get admission in CSE or IT department. Placement of other departments like Chemical, Bio-Medical, ECE is also exceptional. The only drawback is that the placement of Electrical and Mechanical is moderate. Almost 70% of students of these branches get placed every year. Companies like Microsoft, ITC have also recruited from this college.

College Events

5

Heritage Institute of Technology has the Best cultural fest in the West Bengal after BESU and St. Xavier. Many renowned performers have performed in the fest. Performers from Anupam Roy, Fossils, Somlata to KK, Mohit Chauhan, Neeraj Shridhar, Benny Dayal, Farhan Akhtar have performed in this fest. It is a Dream Fest for students of other private colleges. But luckily everyone is allowed to enjoy the fest, even if one is not from this college!

Fees and Financial Aid

There is a scheme for students belonging to below poverty level known as Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme. Also one can avail student loan from the bank. But there is NO loan facility offered by the college!

Campus Life

5

The gender ratio of the student is around 11:9. There is no parties or election. The decision is taken solely by college authority. Several workshops are organised here by students as well as faculties and college authority. There is NO cultural diversity or tolerance with regards to gender, ethnicity, race, religion, politics or economic status.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

I am from Kolkata, thus I did not require to avail the hostel facilities. Still I have an overall idea as some of my friends were availing the hostel facilities. The hostel rooms are big enough and there is plenty of space. There are two big grounds near the hostel. Once I had the food there and it was not bad at all. The hostel fees was around Rs. 5000 per semester at that time.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni network is formed recently in last few years. The alumni help financially as well as they play a role in placement of students. The senior students are very helpful. They cooperated with notes, guided us to make correct choices of subjects and also in exam preparations.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is Semester wise. In each semester there is 2 internal exams and one viva exam. Also there is practical Lab exams as well. The exams are now decided by college authority. Previously it was done by WBUT. Later the college got its Autonomy. The theory exams and the lab exams are taken in separate days. Also there is a scope for students who are unable to pass in any subject in a year. By appearing supplementary exams, they can pass those subjects.

Admission

The admission was completely done by online counselling. I had to give the choices of colleges. As I was aware of not getting chance in JU or BESU at this rank, I was hoping to get HIT-K as my college and luckily got the chance. After the result of the counselling, I went to college and took admission in Electrical Engineering.

Faculty

4.5

The best thing about this college is its faculties. The faculties of our stream are very helpful. Whenever we needed any guidance, they have been always there. The professors were highly qualified. Prof. S.Dutta and A. Hatial have been the best faculties among all. Their teaching process and knowledge cannot be described by words.

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
