Experience of college life

The college campus may not affordable for those who are poor. The environment is fair but not fully college type.You may still feel school type ruling and discipline in the college campus. The college canteen and library is very very good. Wi-fi is also very good.

There are mainly 4 criteria for getting an admission in Heritage Institute of Technology, they are- 1.A candidate must have passed the H.S.(10+2) examination of Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent. 2.A candidate must be qualified in WBJEE (Conducted by WBJEE board) or JEE(Main). 3. 80% seats to be filled by WBJEE candidates, 10% from qualified JEE(Main) candidates & 10% under management quota for candidates. 4. An additional intake of 20% of the approved intake in the 2nd year (Lateral Entry) from Diploma holders and B.Sc degree holders through JELET conducted by WBJEE Board. There are no interview process for admission. I'm a diploma holder in Chemical Engineering ,and I gave the JELET examination for getting a chance in B.Tech in Chemical Engineering.As i cracked it, I took an admission in this college.

Chemical Engineering is mainly a course with so much practical approach in industrial sector. Laboratory Experiments are attached with every semester of this course. In the 3rd & 4th year of study,one student can choose elective subject by their semester number basis.Remember, there is no lottery system in this case.You have first choice if you get higher marks than your next classmate. In case of Elective Subjects,one can choose between Petrochemical Technology and Material Science in 5th semester. There are free elective too in the 4th year where a student can choose subjects from mathematics or applied instrumentation or from biotechnology departments.

The college provides internship in the summer vacation.

Placement is fair enough if you wish to go in IT industry even if you are in another stream except CSE or IT. TCS is the major recruiter in the college. In 2016, about 508 nos of students get placement in this company.There is also Capgemini,Tech Mahindra, Philips Carbon Black,Godrej etc.who came in 2016. Statistics says that overall placement is 82% as on June 2016.

The total fees payable at the time of admission of a student through gen/sc/st is ₹ 72,200, in which 44,000 is the tuition fees in 1st and 2nd semester.₹5000, ₹6000,₹4000,₹2200 & ₹1000 are the fees of admission,library,students' welfare and games & sports,university development and admission kit respectively. an amount of ₹10,000 is taken as caution money which is refundable. Hostel charges are ₹4000 p.m.Candidates with TFW quota should pay ₹28,200 at the time of admission. The tuition fees of 3rd & 4th semester are 45,100 per semester; for 5th & 6th ,46,200; for 7th & 8th ,47,300.

This college has a great opportunity for poor but meritorious students.If the annual family income of a student is less than ₹2,50,000 he/she may apply for tuition fee waiver scheme. After successful application he/she may get upto 100% waiver in tuition fees in each semester but he/she must get good GPA in semester to avail this opportunity. In case of educational loan the college provides a letter with details of fees and other charges for submitting that in the bank.You can go to any bank for educational loan, but I think PNB is good as they have a branch in the college campus and also has loan facility.

The hostel fees is ₹4000 per month. Separate hostels for boys and girls are there but they are not in the college campus.They are out of the college campus. The rooms are on sharing.Rooms are ok. Food serves in the hostel are also ok . The college has no special house or area for PGs.If you wish to stay as a PG,you have to look for a house nearby. The average cost for food and stay is ₹5000-6000 per head as the area is highly populated.

Exam,exam and exam!! In spite of being an autonomous institution, Heritage Institute of Technology is capable of taking exam whenever they needed. We,who travels from distance to study in the college are the real sufferer of this. Sometimes you may feel to find an escape route to get rid of the sytem but you can't.You just can't. The papers also checked by the faculties itself as well as question paper setting. You are just passed through a chamber of critically designed by the college management and at the end of the study you get the right shape,anyway.

In Chemical Engineering Department ,there are total 11 faculties to take care of the subjects.Some of them having vast experience about the course & some are not. Overall there is a standard height of experience and quality of the faculties. They are interactive,indeed. In case of teaching, some professors are really good that you may feel the real phenomenon about that matter of a chapter.Some are really magician.They do such magic that you may fall asleep.
