The college still has to improve basic facilities such as toilets, ground for sports, cleaner classrooms etc.

Entrance Preview

Kerala Entrance Examination, I scored 400 marks, I opted this college cause it is one of the tech institutes in Kerala.

Course Curriculum Overview

The teaching quality is average, the syllabus however is rather tough, the college is affiliated to CUSAT University kerala India. It is one of the top ranked universities in India.

Internships Opportunities

I will have Internships only at the end of the semester 6 which is the end of third year, Currently I am in fifth semester. Many famous companies do come to college to pick students to enroll in internship opportunities.

Placement Experience

Placements are fantastic, It is the key feature of our college, almost all students in the college gets placed, some reputed companies like Nvidia, Bosh etc do recruit from our college.

College Events

As with any college our college has Arts events, Sports Events, Tech events, The tech event is called Excel it is one of the bigest in south India. Students from All over the state and even students from other states do attend our tech fest, The prizes are also juicy.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Although part of govermnet IHRD board kerala, The fee structure is quite different from regular government colleges. Merit admission requires the candidate to pay 35,000 inr management seat is 65,000 and NRI seats 1 lakh per annum. It is feasible.

Many scholarship opportunities are present, Scholarship of XMECIANS are the best to most of the students of the college.

Campus liffe is average, The campus is quite small, just around 20acres of land, There isn't much land the college offers, The events are conducted by students itself hence enjoyable and exciting, All events are well organised.

MEC has just boys hostel inside the campus, The hostel rooms are average and mess food is also just above average.

As mentioned XMEC is the largest alumni network exsiting in the college, It is always wonderful to interact with the senior batch of students and to hear their acheievements.

My Experience at NIT Calicut

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance.The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies.The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.

MEC EEE REVIEW

I applied to cet, tkm, gec for branches eee and ec My first option was cet for which i couldn't get admission due to my rank. Cet requires rank below 1000. And my second option was mec (my college). I choose this college over gec and tkm because it was in my home town itself and it had better placement opportunities. MEC Thrikkakkara: Strong Academics and Placements, but Room for Infrastructure Growth

My cousin studied here few years back and is now working a top tech company.I applied for Cs in MSRIT and AMRITA,but the fee structure over there is too high(around 3-4 lakh per year).Here overall fee amount is equivalent the yearly fee.To get admission in MEC,a person needs to write keam exam .Three phases of allotment are held in here.At the beginning of all allotment,we could change our preferences.For CSE BATCH,CUTOFF RANK FOR merit is around 2k and Management around 3.5k .For CSBS it's around 3k for Merit and 7-8k for management....Read More

Good for social life but very minimal infrastructure and facilities

The reason I chose this college over other options were due to the prime location in which it is present and due to the city it is present in . MEC is renowned for the placement opportunities available in this college and is placed in the top 3 colleges in Kerala in terms of placemenets . The admission is based on the student's KEAM rank and this rank decides whether you get the Merit seat or management seat . For others you also have an NRI seat .
