Thapar University, Patiala complete personal review

This course provides a vast opportunity in both Electronics and Computer Science field which can be very vital in the future. Placements are good. Faculty:student ratio is 1:120. Faculty is good and qualified from renowned colleges and universities like IITs, BITS, etc. Teaching is through lectures and several tutorial classes, and some lab classes. Term exams usually occur in 2-2.5 months gap. They were of moderate difficulty.

Many companies like Microsoft, JP Morgan, Deloitte, Amazon come for internships to the college. Stipend of about 40-50 thousands per month is offered to students. Projects like app development, web development, finance, management are given to complete the tasks. You learn a lot after internship and learn necessary skills to work in future.

Placements are decent. Students become eligible for placements after sixth semester. About 400 companies visit the campus. Highest package is 55 lakhs and average is nearly 13 lakhs. More than 90% students get placement. I plan to earn a decent placement in a top company.

Fees structure is typically 4.5 lakhs per year and 10 percent fees is hiked every year. It costs nearly 21-22 lakhs to study excluding hostel and mess fees. Scholarship is also provided. You need to be in atleast top 10 percent of your branch to get scholarship.

Life is pretty good on campus. Saturnalia is the annual fest which is largest in north India. Other fests like Izhar, Mudranite and Surnite are also conducted. Saturnalia is conducted in November. Library is very large and feels luxurious. Very large number of books and journals are available. Classrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with necessary amenities. Almost every sport is played on the campus e.g. Lawn tennis. Infrastructure is very nice. Various societies are present in college where every student can pursue his/her interests.

Study table, chair, AC is provided. Meal quality is okayish. Menu is changed every two weeks and various food items are provided. Registration is conducted through mail from the Caretaker of Hostel. Hostels are affordable.

You need to have passed 12th and applied for JEE Main. You need to fill an application form from the official website of Thapar Institute. Application fees is 1500 to 2000 rupees. Keep checking regularly on the website for dates.
