Remarks

Overall the college is god but it needs some development. Actually in reality it is not a dream college for anyone. But in terms of studies it is one of the best in the city.

Entrance Preview

One needs to clear the JKCET entrance / exam conducted by BOPEE . One who wants to get admission in this college. The cut off of various streams is highest among all the colleges of Jammu division recognized by BOPEE. Being the premier engineering institute of the state after NIT, Srinagar made one to opt for admission in GCET, Jammu. The cut off is highest for Civil Engineering branch as there is a huge scope in this branch in our state. After clearing the cut off, one can get admission in the college and no interview is conducted for the admission purpose.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I have opted for computer science branch and a first-year student. So personally I have no idea about practical learning in my core branch. I have oped this branch because I have very much interest in learning computer languages and wants to do something different in the field of computers. I also wants to design my own build software. But according to seniors, the practical learning is excellent. Actually, it depends on the student on how he/she takes interest in their respective field. Also there is no sports faculty in the college. Apart from academics a good college should have other activities as well.

Internships Opportunities

There are no such internships programme here but seniors are found saying that mechanical, civil and electrical students are sent to government departments for training.. they are trained under the guidance of senior experienced gusted officers.

Placement Experience

1.5

Companies like Wipro & Techaspect visited our college for last few years. Very few students are placed in these companies which gives the average package of around Rs. 3.25 lakhs per anumn.

College Events

2

As I am a new students, so I have no idea about the events. But as I have heard from my seniors, there are no events organised. The fests are sometimes organised and are few like one in 2 to 3 years .

Fee Structure And Facilities

As most of the private engineering collEge are very expensive, so a normal man cannot afford to study in that colleges. But being a government collEge the fees is affordable for the poor and needy ones who can't afford to get education from private colleges and I think every parent want his or her ward to lead a good life. The fees structure of this institution is Rs. 11,670 per semester for J&K State Board students and Rs. 12,670 for CBSE students per semester for students. The hostel fee is Rs 4000 per month which is quit affordable for the poor ones.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is no provision for scholarship as yet. But there is tution fee waiver for students from less income family. They have fees of around Rs.4000 Per semester which is good and great support to them.

Campus Life

2.5

Presently there are few extra cirrucular activities available in our college. As I am a table tennis player, I cannot get proper material to explore my talent. There are inter college tournaments organized by Jammu University but our college did not provide us proper material for doing practice.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

I am a local student so there is no need of hostel facility being provided by the college. But as per other students who are residing in the hostel, the hostel facility is satisfactory. The rooms are just good and the meal provided to them is satisfactory. The washrooms are not hygienic. all the students from other districts cannot get hostel facility as the rooms are very less so they have to go to PGs which is a very costly affair.

Alumni/Alumna

There is no alumni organized in our college.

Exam Structure

The lab faculties in the college is very good especially the chemistry lab in which there is lot of things to learn. The teachers are focusing on practical learning rather than theoretical learning. As I have opted for Computer Science Branch and am first year's student, I can't comment on computers lab. The level of sessional exams are good.

Faculty

1.5

The teaching staff of the college is well qualified and have good experience in the filed of engineering. If we talk about sports faculty, it is worthwhile to mention that the sports faculty is the well below par among all the colleges in the state. Even there is no ground for outdoor sports available in this college. Also transportation facility is not available in the college. Also I have to mention that there is no transportation facility available in the college due to this the students whose homers are very far away from the college suffers a lot. Also the canteen in the college is also not well maintained

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
