A great experience

It is overall a good college which has vast scopes of improvement academically. The social life however, is really great.

There was no entrance exam as such. Admission was solely based on the 12th class board percentage. Initially I cleared the cutoff of PGDAV college but later after third cutoff list joined Shivaji college as this was better.There was no interview. Moreover, I was always keen on learning Maths and CS is my general elective.

The course syllabus is on the higher side of difficulty.We do have calculus practical labs every now and then as assigned in the time table and that is the only form of practical learning we have. There have been no research initiatives as such in our stream.

There are a few internship fairs in the college which acquaint us about the internships providing stipend from 1k to around 7-8k. However, it mostly depends on the experience of the student.

The placement scenario of Shivaji College cannot be considered that top notch as very few students are placed in companies with decent packages. Most of the students struggle to get jobs as not many companies visit the college and thus students generally go for higher studies.

There are seldom festivals and workshops in the college.The fest is held once a year but the seminars and workshops are quite frequent and a learning experience.

The fees is Rs 13000 for one year which includes two semesters.The examination fees is not included in this amount and has to be paid at the time of the exams.

There are scholarships for academically deserving students and grants for those who can't afford the fees and other expenses. However, there is no loan facility and I did not avail any such thing.

There are a number of societies in the college which work almost round the year bringing out the talents in each and every student who joins them. There is a selection process which is normally an interview to join them

There are no hostels in my college and I am living in a PG nearby.I am paying Rs 8500 food included and living on Three sharing basis. Food quality is average.

We haven't been acquainted with our alumnis and neither have been provided much details about the passouts. However, I do hope we might get to interact with them in future if the college oraganizes some meet.

The exams are held at the end of the semesters, however we do have internals and class tests in between. In normal days it is a chill culture but during exams the situation gets a bit hectic.

We have a well qualified and experienced faculty. There is no shortage of teachers thus, they are able to pay better attention on the students. Moreover, they are ready to solve the students' issues be it academic or any other.
