My college doesn't make me feel like I'm far from home.

I would like to highlight about the language barrier we face here. Most of the students and non-teaching staff cannot speak Hindi or English properly. This makes a huge communication gap between us.

I wrote JEE mains entrance exam to get admission in this college. I heard about this college from my relatives as this college holds good academic record with high placement ratio. After clearing the cut off marks of JEE for this college, I filled the admission form. There is no interview process to get admission. I was very enthusiastic about building construction so I chose Civil engineering course.

My college is also famous for Civil engineering course. All the faculties we have in our college are well educated with minimum 5 years industrial experience and some with PhD. As my subject is mainly based on practical knowledge, our faculty make us to work more on field. The industrial experience of our faculty worth a lot to us. Our college also conducts many technical events to improve creativity and research minds.

Yes college do provide internships for the students in the 7th semester. Students are also allowed to do internships on their own. Acknowledged from the seniors, the intership experience worth a lot for every student. A lot of doubts were cleared during the intership. On an average the stipend amount for the intership was Rs. 5000 for 28 days.

The criteria for placements is very clear, students with good academics having distinction marks throughout the course will be eligible for the placement interviews. On an average, students with minimum 66% got placed. Many major companies visit college for the placement interviews which consists companies like TCS, Mahindra and Mahindra Group, Godrej Technology Pvt ltd., Hindustan Unilever ltd., L&T constructions, etc. Package differs with the courses, as we go for ENTC the average package is about 5 lac per annum. And for Mechanical, it's about 4.5 lac per annum. The Civil placement also holds good record of package of 5 lac per annum and so on.

After the huge burden of study, every student awaits for the college events. The price for this is paid by the college by organising a huge College fest. This carnival consists of celebrity visit, DJ night, Technical and social events, fun and food, etc. College organisation and the student committee put lot of effort to make these events memorable.

Though it is NAC affiliated, this college is very affordable as compared to other colleges of such high ranking. If a student comes under NT or SC cast then it's approximately Rs. 11000 per year. For OBC, it's approximately Rs.60000 per year. No worries for the open category students too, it's approximately 1 lac per year only excluding scholarship.

No college doesn't provide any of the scholarship to student unless and until the student is eligible for the scholarship. All the documentation are verified by the college authorities and then the scholarship is granted to the student. But college officials are very helpful and cooperative which helps us to get every necessary details for the scholarship criteria.

Along with academic, the college also focus on the extra curricular activities. Every department organises many events throughout the semester. Not only seniors but also faculties help us to get many creative ideas for the competition. Such events gives us a very good platform to explore our inner talent.

D.Y. Patil hostels are well furnished and every care is taken to ensure safety and health of the students living in the hostel. Each room have two cots i.e. sharing rooms with maximum two students. All other facilities like cold and hot water for bath, clean drinking water, 24 hours electricity and water, etc. College hostels are little costly for the students with poor financial background. They also provide PGs for those who cannot afford. Rent for the PGs is on an average Rs. 2000 per month excluding food. College hostel mess have very good food. The monthly package for mess comes with breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner. PGs also provide good food at affordable prices.

Yes, we do have good interaction with the alumni. Every year college organise a alumni event where all alumni interact with us and share their experiences.

The exam pattern is well designed to keep students busy in their studies throughout the semester. This pattern helps us to learn time management skills. In the beginning of the first year, we get exhausted due to exams and labs. But, as the time passes we adopted the system and learned to manage study along with other curricular activities.

All faculties in our department are highly qualified professionals and mostly of them are PhD holders. All the faculties have minimum 5 years of industrial experience along with teaching experience. Teacher are very cooperative and friendly. They look after each and every student in the class and all doubts are taken under consideration. They focus more on practical knowledge and shares their experiences with us to minimise our mistakes.
