Remarks

The college infrastructure is not very good there is not too much exposure for the students but some of the teachers are amazing and sutdents are too good srinagar itself is not a very good city for outsiders to live in.

Entrance Preview

I gave AIEEE and I scored 115 in 2011 and I got into it with home state quota as I wouldn't get any other NIT in general category i am from J&K so I got into it with 115 marks only in general category using home state quota but for outside J&K general category students it was around 180 to 190 marks.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum was good but the faculty cut down the important and useful sections of books. It was a deemed university so only the teachers which taught set the papers for exams. The faculty was mostlyexcellent for the core branches but for CS IT it was utter crap For ECE the faculty was good.

Internships Opportunities

There was no company that came for college internship we had to find internships ourselves granted that college had good reputation for being an NIT, students got their internships rather easily.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements come from the range of 3 Lakhs to 11 12 Lakhs though most of them are in 3 4 Lakh category almost everyone gets placed but not many are placed in good companies.

College Events

2

There is a techfest held every year in college recently from 2013 it is not very good fest to be honest but its been improving every year there is an annual function celebrated every year and freshers is given to newcomers farewell is also given.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure during my time was feasible but now it has doubled it is now approximately One Lakh Ten Thousand for one year so you can say that despite being a not so good government college, the fee is at the high end.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is a scholarshiop facility for minorities other than that I am not aware of any sort of scholarship.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is good but can be a lot better i mean with friends everything becomes good but there isn't a lot of exposure it is because there are not a lot of colleges in Srinagar and its hard for people from outside of kashmir to come here other than that there are sports week in every semester the labs for core branches are good and the faculty is excellent. For CS IT the labs are OK but the faculty is bad to say the least i can say this because I was sutdying in CS branch.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

Mess food was utter crap hostels were not too good in my time we lived 6 in a room made for four now it is four or 5 students for that room hostels are in bad condition especially after the Kashmir flood last year.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is very good as can be seen in Linkedin NIT Srinagar profile some of the alumnis have been to the top PSUs and other top companies around the world. Some have got excellent internships and some are in research field.

Exam Structure

Exams are taken very frequently with two minors in a day with a 3 hour gap for each. 6 subject exams were taken in 3 days only so it was hectic major exams were taken one in a day with 2 or 3 day gap between two exams labs were decided by the respective h

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Highest package is of 45 lpa and lowest of 8 lpa. There is 100% placements of students from core branches. After i get my degree i want to work in a tech company and learn about technology.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
