- The campus is full of greenery and is pollution free, also the temperature is very habitable.
- The professors are very learned and charismatic, one will love to study with them.
- The library and the study area is very big and appealing.
Dislikes
- The suicide rate in campus is quite high and people concerned do not act accordingly.
- Their is a lot of academic pressure, i mean to say the time required to study a topic is less.
- There are a lot of alcohol shops just outside the campus, many students drink often.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose naval and ocean engineering because my father works in Indian Navy also package in this department is quite good. Faculty:student=1:50 All faculty members aka teachers are highly qualified with most of them holding a phD, and their teaching methods are too good to understand.
Internships Opportunities
Many comapnies like Mazagon dock limited, Cochinshipyards to name a few from Naval and Ocean engineeing. But many people like to go to IT sector doing major and minors in finance in business management. So comapnies like Google, Microsoft, Intel and many more hire in their final years as well as give internships. Many companies come to IITKGP because of its huge almni network.
Placement Experience
The placement scenario is very good in our college.Many reputed copmanies like google ,microsoft ,bajaj etc visit in our college during placementt.The highest package goes above 2Cr per year and the average package is around 22 LPA. But the situation is little bit worse in this year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees for each semester is almost 1.5lakhs INR which is for 1lakh tution fees and 50,000 for hostel and other charges. The ammenties you get for this price is not bad. But still comapred to other IITs, its quite high.
Campus Life
Annual fest of IITKGP is Spring fest. Tech fest is Kshitij. Both of them are usually conducted in the month of January.IIT KGP Central library is the largest college library in Asia with various books of different field.Extra curricular activities like Sports,NCC,NSS,NCA,Health and Fitness and many technical-cuotural activities are available.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms are of fair quality. A table-chair,cupboard and a bed is allocated for each student in the room.The rooms can be single/2/3 sharing.The bathrooms can be attached to the room or common for a wing.The meal quality is of average level.
Admission
You need to crack JEE advance which can be given after class 12th, and you need to qualift jee mains. Also need to pass class12th with a minimum 75% including maths, physics and chemistry. Jee mains forms are usually out in late november at NTA(national testing agency) and exams are usaullu held in two shifts once in january and other in march. Fees for each mains shift is 1000 while for advance is 3000.
